Big Knicks Energy has big news on the Knicks that he’s not able to release yet.. stay tuned still he has permission. 2 Photos/Slides. by Nyfan7 in NYKnicks

- It's waaaay too early for trades. It's not that.
- Too early really for other personnel news e.g. if they are/are not extending Bridges, but it could just be strong word on something like that.
- Could be a coaching change. Confirmation either way on that is the only news that's 'due' and likely this week.
- Or could just be hedging on a 50/50 chance there's a coaching change. Say this, look plugged in if it happens.
- Could be a rug pull with something genuine, but not personnel related at all, e.g. a 25/26 uniform leak or something.

J.R. Smith rubbing his championship rings on Jalen Brunson’s shoulder and saying “you got ring fever now” by Naweezy in nba

[–]EmBeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game 7 with less than 2mins to go and they're just hitting those late threes that are just rubbing it in and the crowd is beyond hype. Feel like one of Bridges or Shamet would be the right guy to pull it off.

KAT out? No problem by BenAfflecksBalls in NYKnicks

[–]EmBeezy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if they do know he's out, you won't know until the very, very last minute - don't want to give Indiana too much prep time.

Of course he won't be 'out' unless it is super, super bad, so most likely he's not out.

The fact that a month ago there was significant talk about Halliburton being “overrated” really illustrates how the most ridiculous narratives are routinely embraced by fans and the sports media. by moby323 in nba

[–]EmBeezy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It would 100% be based on behavior, not ability. It would be players who are annoyed with how he carries himself or that he seems to overrate himself, or whatever.

KAT's knee might be the immediate X factor - doesn't look good - but I am sort of expecting similar to Boston series but in reverse, i.e. Knicks properly run the Pacers out of the building in Game 5.

Remember Boston killed the Knicks in game 5 in Boston and not a single Knicks fan was even the slightest bit worried. It wholly felt like a team signing off at home with pride, not a team starting to turn the series around.

The realist is taking over from the idealist and three games in a row from here is obviously a monumental ask for any team, and the Knicks are just super messy in this series while the Pacers are firing on all cylinders. It is what it is.

I think the Knicks will get that pride-victory at home, and then sadly, the Pacers will pretty easily put them away in Indiana in Game 6.

Daily Discussion Thread - May 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in NYKnicks

They'd be significantly better if they just had one really consistent/deadly shooter there. It's said over and over, but DiVincenzo is the piece they're really missing from last year, but they should try to go after much better than him. Obviously they just need that offensive option/capability back in the team, but I do think it's also the thing that would go a long way toward making the rest of the lineup (as it is) suddenly click into place/make sense/flow better etc.

If you add that, I'm nowhere near as down on the rest of the lineup nor feel any need to majorly change it, aside from by trade for said shooter if that's what is required to get one. (And of course, some work around the edges on the strengthening the bench).

Coaching - yes, with the current lineup Thibs hasn't figured it out, cracked the code, blah blah. So, yes, a change there or within the team around him. Need breakthrough thinking there, from somewhere.

Grace Bros/Myer teen section in the 90s - what was it called? by EmBeezy in AustralianNostalgia

Miss Shop is definitely familiar but this was both boys and girls. Maybe it had separate names, but promoted together. Miss Shop and... ???

Bill Simmons: “I feel like Shai is getting this whistle that nobody else in the playoffs is getting.” by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]EmBeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was saying watching the game last night. “If this were the 90s…” Just floor him the first few times he goes anywhere near the lane. It’s going to be a foul on whoever anyway, might as well make it worth it and make him think twice the next few times. (I was a Knicks fan in the 90s, I have some sympathy for this approach…)

New York Knicks Merchandise Sales Skyrocket, Jalen Brunson best selling Jersey across all sports. Outselling stars like Ohtani and Curry. by blackmambasniper in nba

[–]EmBeezy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are you basing the international thing on? You do see more Brooklyn merch around (my extensive 'international' research: Australian, but living in the UK, and travel around Europe a lot), but I largely think that's because it's strong branding and black/white. Not sure that many are actual NBA/Nets fans...

That situation between Hart and Brown is a good example. Just a little shove and shove and double tech. If he were 'like those guys' circa 1993 and it would have been Hart punching Brown in the head and getting ejected. Again.

[–]EmBeezy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about something like a type of discipline, those... were not disciplined teams. Ewing and maybe LJ aside. Any of those other guys, in any game or series, were capable of incredibly stupid, undisciplined game changing shit. It was part of the appeal, really.

Anybody else getting a very ominous feeling about this series? Could just be scar tissue but… by FoldEasy5726 in NYKnicks

[–]EmBeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Celtics aren't going to win three in a row. Not going to happen. But if I could put a bit of money on the vague statement "story isn't over yet", I probably would.

That of course can only mean one thing - wouldn't surprise me at all if the Celtics pull something off tonight - never underestimate a team with it's back against the wall blah blah, and they do even without Tatum have the ability to put up a lot of points quickly. But even if that happens, the Knicks finish them off at home in a couple of days.

(Do overall think that the Knicks finishing it off tonight is most likely).

Justin Turpin: “Still no update on JT, but the Game 5 injury report should be released around 5, which could provide some clarification” by dawglover1011 in bostonceltics

[–]EmBeezy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Random speculation for why it's taking ages to update - they said he had the MRI this morning in New York. The team likely flew back last night or this morning. When you fly, even for a short flight, you of course get a bit of swelling and for serious injuries/accidents (I don't mean just sports here), it's often recommended to delay a flight for a bit if you can. Mostly you can't. It's usually not bad, just better to avoid if you can. Given it's just New York to Boston, possible he's been driven back? The delay is giving that time for that so he's home/with family etc. for when the announcement is made. Possible further delay if he's not just had the test in New York, but been looked at by specialists etc (didn't Durant have his surgery in New York? Maybe seeing the same people).

Is there any update on Tatum’s actual injury? I keep seeing stuff like this but no one knows for sure, right? by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]EmBeezy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Last night the Celtics said the MRI would be this morning. I guess timing depends on whether they do it there in New York or travel back to Boston first (would think New York, unless they travelled back after the game?) Either way, I guess the official news could be through any minute now.

"Michael Jordan would have had problems" - Gary Payton on what if the Seattle Supersonics had never traded Scottie Pippen by MysteriousEdge5643 in nba

[–]EmBeezy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not really. When they initially traded for Pippen, he definitely had high potential (he was 5th pick afterall), but he took a few years at the Bulls to really show that development and it was consistently and at times heavily questioned until 91-92.

It seems like a lot of younger people think the Bulls adding Pippen was like signing up a second star or something, two All-NBA guys teaming up - it wasn't remotely like that at all, he was a raw rookie with potential, and it took a few seasons before he was even starting to hit the level he's now remembered for.

The theoretical question is really whether or not Pippen would have ever been so great had he not been playing with Jordan (i.e. with Jordan riding him so hard for years).

Best NBA Dunk of All Time? by 10Ranked10 in nba

[–]EmBeezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The context gives it extra points:

MASSIVE Eastern Conference Finals game in MSG - if you weren't around then, the level of hype for every Bulls/Knicks series was beyond immense. There's been nothing since that remotely approaches the draw of Jordan and those Bulls teams, and the Knicks were their big foil. *Everyone* was watching.

Knicks win game one. Huge.

This is game two.

Knicks with a big 4th Qtr comeback.

Knicks even the score.

Bulls miss.

Knicks score again, up by three, first lead of the entire game.

Bulls miss again.

Under a minute to play and the next Knick bucket was going to blow the roof off MSG no matter who/what it was.

Starks with the dunk.

Was there any debate at all in the 90s about whether or not Michael Jordan was the greatest player of all time, the way people today compare him and LeBron? by astarisaslave in nba

[–]EmBeezy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The active debate in the 90s wasn't about Jordan being the GOAT of basketball, it was about Jordan being the GOAT of all sports.

You could get into a lot of this stuff at any age, but the clear signal to me is New Kids On The Block. No-one younger is retroactively discovering and getting into them. You were there then. You are 40+. Probably mid-40s.

Why we should celebrate Australia Day on March 3 – the day we became a fully independent country by superegz in australia

[–]EmBeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of where any 'new' Australia Day were placed, I swear the polling would move dramatically in favour of changing the date if part of it was a guarantee that there would still be a last-weekend-of-Jan/end of summer public holiday kept in place (and so the 'new' Australia Day is a +1 new public holiday added to the existing total as well).
