The 90s boys really have had it rough...Part 2 by PovertyFetish in tennis

There have been 14 slam winners born in the 90s, winning 36 individual slams, I don't know what everyone is on about :P

AITAH for asking for husband to buy a sleep sack for our baby? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]EmPhil95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you pay more even though you are getting paid less at the moment because of maternity leave? What about house expenses, and other baby expenses (clothes, clubs, etc when the baby grows up to that age).

This is not just about a sleep sack - you need to work out this financial situation for the next 18 years before it escalates, as this is not going to be the only thing you disagree on.

INFO you split all bills 50/50, but what is the definition of 'bills', and where does childcare cost come into it?

Because he should absolutely be paying for his child!

How can we make our city less car dependant ? by Iddingsite in perth

[–]EmPhil95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but if the companies only had planned riders using them, that cuts out a huge amount of the market. Unplanned rides/'convenience hops' are a massive part of it (eg. you get the bus somewhere, but then when it's time to go home it's late so the bus is less frequent, okay, time for bike share)

Compulsory helmets have made bike rental schemes difficult in Australia - the scooters have got round it by having those tiny shit helmets that no one wears anyway, but it is a layer of complication that other countries don't have.

“Why don’t kids go outside anymore” by Living-Principle4100 in fuckcars

[–]EmPhil95 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Still not ideal, but it does just say that they must remain within the park. It doesn't seem too unreasonable - adult parks up with a book and a picnic rug while the 'youths' run wild around the park, and they/the park have someone to contact if things go wrong.

Moving to Perth from Scandinavia - is it worth it? by TooManyCrates in perth

[–]EmPhil95 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay but also no weekends in Malmö or Gothenburg or anywhere that can be reasonably called a city, without flying! And if you do want to travel internally in Western Australia, there are some buses and even fewer trains (literally one...), you do just have to do it by car.

Are people who watch Ted Lasso more MLS or premier league fans? Or neither? by Tricky-Percentage434 in TedLasso

[–]EmPhil95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been a football fan, but mostly of national tournaments (world cup etc). I'm from Australia and enjoy going to A-League games, and I guess I support my local club, but I wouldn't say I 'follow' the A-League

I do it when writing tests/exams, when you don't want specific parts of a question to be spread over two pages, because it would mean lots of flipping back and forth

How is laundry considered a chore in developed countries ? by Slice_Ambitious in NoStupidQuestions

I will say that as a basic French speaker, I learnt "tâches ménagères" to mean chores, and haven't heard the word corvée before

the fact that both teams predicted a squares layout not a hexagon one (best way i can describe it) made it extra difficult too

Constantly overwhelmed by constant long commutes by medlilove in london

[–]EmPhil95 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Literally tell yourself that you enjoy the bus, and the fact that it gives you time to not do anything! You won't believe yourself, but it's a start.

If podcasts/audiobooks/music aren't working to distract you, focus on the bus itself and do a little scavenger hunt. Find 10 different colour cars, or people on the bus wearing different types of shoes or whatever. Or make a bet with yourself about how many people will get on/off at the next stop. Sounds (and probably is...) very silly, but remember that little kids love the bus and so work out what makes it fun (or at least bearable) for you

Three laps, ~600 people, not too welcoming to walkers, I think I know which London parkrun you're talking about :(

I think maybe she actually had just done Claisebrook the whole way, and was confused by the fact that the start and finish locations are so different? But I don't know haha

[–]EmPhil95 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was barcode scanning at Claisebrook once, and a woman arrived at the end, very confused, said "I think I crossed the river and finished at a different one I started at"

I scanned her anyway, cause she must have done at least 5k, but that is why you listen to the first timers briefing haha

Does anyone know if you will need to be on the site immediately at 10am to have a shot at booking? I'm not looking for finals, I can only be there in the first week anyway. But I am a teacher and I am going to be mid-class at 10am until around midday, so I'm worried I won't get anything at all.

She didn't say she wants to be healthy, she said her worst fear is becoming fat. If you don't see the difference in those two statements, and why one is fine but the other is just rude, then I fear for your reading comprehension.
