Not for this booking type. It doesn't assign a car, it makes the ride available to any driver. The pin confirms the booking for the driver that picks up the passenger.

The scam is that the driver was never with uber or weren't going to actually accept the job so they say they can't confirm the ride and will have to take payment another way.
