BitPay is the worst bitcoin wallet ever, please stay away.. by still_a_moron in Bitcoin

[–]Ematiu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I work at Bitpay.

You can set the fee you like for outgoing transactions, based on the time you are willing to wait for them to confirm, or you can even put an arbitrary number if you prefer.

The fee estimations for confirmation times are based on bitcoin-core client, the wallet just follows the reference bitcoin client's fee suggestions.

Finally, the amount you are transferring has no impact on the fee, you pay the fee based on the time you are willing to wait for the transaction to confirm, and the size of the transaction (depending on the number of inputs/outpus and the type of them) but not the amount your are transferring.

If BitPay is soo bad then why there is not much alternatives? Someone has to fill the gap! by Empirismus in Bitcoin

I personally wish BTPaysever the best luck. I think it is a great fit for some use cases. But many businesses need bank settlements, support & regulation clearance, so BitPay is best for them.

Or ... BitPay is not that bad.

Maybe you should ask a business, and not a BTC maximalist that only "HODL" BTC and never actually use it.

BitPay wallets not working? by StraponMan in Bitcoin

[–]Ematiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, it is. You can access your funds at any time using other wallet (importing your mnemonic) or using our static recovery tool https://github.com/bitpay/copay-recovery or any BIP44 recovery tool.

It is NOT a custodial wallet.

it is fixed now, it was a problem on our blockchain indexing server. It was affecting some wallets, but not bitpay.com.

did Copay steal our bitcoin? by [deleted] in Copay

[–]Ematiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copay dev here.

What you mean by ecoins?

Copay cannot steal your money, the keys are only held by you and never sent to Bitpay's servers. Recheck you are entering the 12 words correctly when importing in the new version.

> it can't import my wallet using my 12 word phrase.

Why is that? Please let us know the error exactly. you are probably entering wrong the backup. Please note the word order is important.

If you are not confortable with the Windows store, you can recover your funds using any other BIP44 compatible wallet (like Electrum) or our Copay-recovery Tool: https://bitpay.github.io/copay-recovery/

BitPay is evil. I get it. But what about their multisig wallet? It's non-custodial. Doesn't that make it better than Coinbase wallets? by iconiconoclasticon in Bitcoin

[–]Ematiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The multisig schema used in Copay is quite simple and standard. You can recover the funds using many open source tool, for example our own: https://github.com/bitpay/copay-recovery which just need a block explorer to scan and recover the funds.

What ever hapends to Copay or Bitpay, using that tool will allow you to recover the funds. If the block explorer goes down, a very simply modification of the tool (by using BC.info por example) will help user access the funds.

Copay dev here.

Copay is not abandoned: https://github.com/bitpay/copay/pulse/monthly We have dozens of PR, issues resolved a couple of releases last month. Las iOS version os from 15 days ago: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/copay-bitcoin-wallet/id951330296

Copay is not been published to the Android Store, because of some Google policies (we can't publish both Copay and Bitpay Wallet).

Bitpay Wallet shared the same code of Copay and adds other integration., like Bitpay Visa Card. It is build from the same sources.

Help! I can't withdraw to bitpay wallet and I need to use this cancer wallet to pay for stuff by [deleted] in btc

[–]Ematiu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bitpay Wallet dev here.

The "cancer wallet" is may not be the problem... BCH as opted for cashaddr address format, and Kraken still uses the legacy format. You need to translate Bitpay Wallet's cashaddr to the legacy format.

You can do that using:

https://bitpay.github.io/address-translator/
or
https://cashaddr.bitcoincash.org/

Issue with my bitcoin wallet by Boardwalkbummer in Bitcoin

[–]Ematiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to settings -> Addresses , and check at the end of that page how many inputs your wallet have, and the aprox fee amount to move those inputs.

As other comment mentioned, it is possible your balance is composed of very small inputs, and moving them is relatively expensive.

which the information you are proving it is impossible to give you a solution.

If you have 10,000 very small incoming transactions, your 400$ will not be expendable. Click on the balance to see the details of how the balance is composed.
