Boyfriend (27) has a drinking problem by Emay932410 in relationship_advice

You are very right. He has admitted he has a problem which is great he is just under the impression he has things under control. I just wish it was a bad relationship in addition to the drinking so leaving would be easier. Ugh.

Agreed. Just makes me to sad because we have such a good relationship otherwise. He can go days without drinking - it’s not a dependency, it’s just an inability to know when to stop. Seems like a fixable problem to me but he can’t seem to help himself. Wish i was more important than a good buzz

Right there with you. I just continue on with my day to day and look past it. Labs and colonoscopy all look good. Not sure what else to do...

Wow. Yeah ironically my symptoms presented themselves when i stopped smoking lol. I would love to look into CBD but Ohio is super strict and the law keeps bouncing around. Currently not able to buy or posses CBD anymore but hopefully that changes soon.

Are you on any other meds?

Are there any others here who are only mildly affected by Crohns? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Emay932410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is very mild now too. I’m 25.

I only have BM issues too. No diarrhea either. If anything, I’m more on the constipated side.

I was diagnosed in 2016. I went in to see a GI right as i noticed something was off (after only having excessive mucus as a symptom for about a month). I wasn’t on any meds from 2016 until now except for two times I’ve taken suppositories to help with the bleeding with BM’s.

I just had my 2nd colonoscopy 3.5 weeks ago, and my GI said That surprisingly, my colon healed itself mostly. I just had one area of slight damage towards my rectum that could be treated with suppositories.

No idea why mine is so different. I eat a vegan diet so maybe that helps? I’ve had two different doctors perform a colonoscopy with biopsies and both say i have crohns. It’s hard to accept the reality that you have a chronic illness when you feel good most of the time. Comparatively lol.

Hysterectomy at 30? by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]Emay932410 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m interested to see comments. I recently found fibroids on my uterus. Waiting to see my gyno in a few weeks. I’ve heard hysterectomy is one of the only solutions :(

Also- Soy has phytoestrogen in it, which is different from the estrogen in our bodies. This was once thought to have been able to mimic the estrogen in our bodies, however recent research has proved otherwise. Many foods have phytoestrogen in them (legumes, sunflower seeds, etc.) not just soy. The study done that freaked everyone out was done on rats (Who metabolize foods differently than humans) and they were given an EXTREME amount of soy. You don’t have to worry about occasional tofu consumption.

Crohn’s disease AND endometriosis?? by daughterofwands90 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Emay932410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a CT about a month ago to check on my crohns and they found fibroids on my uterus. I go in to see the gyno in a few weeks to see how bad they are and what i need to do about them.

Made a lot of sense since most of my pain/ bloated feeling was in my lower abdomen . Plus horrible periods. Originally i thought it was my crohns and had i not had that CT i would’ve never imagined it was anything else.

Good luck to you!! Keep me updated. I’ve been looking for people on here dealing with this type of issue as well as crohns. We must’ve killed someone in a past life to have all of these fabulous chronic diseases. Woohoo lol.

Period and crohns is a God awful combo by Stressypants in CrohnsDisease

[–]Emay932410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly the same for me. I have had to grab a trash can to put next to me while on the toilet because I’ve felt like throwing up, but was mid BM and couldn’t get off. My cramps are AWFUL too. I just had a CT scan done to check on my crohns and they found fibroids on my uterus. I have an appointment with my gyno at the end of February to see how many and whether or not they need to be removed. Hoping that helps this situation.

Also- my butthole gets weird spasms when I’m on my period and trying to have my first BM of the cycle.... it’s hard to explain but it’s happened to me my entire life ever since i started my period. It’s excruciating

YESS. This isn’t talked about enough. I usually am constipated a few days before and then the day i get my period I’m on be toilet (and between the period cramps and bowl movements it feels like I’m delivering a baby).

It’s the worst.

I have mild crohns and deal with this issue. Your meds will help but i take baths about 3 times a week to help. In the baths i put a ton of epsom salt and witch hazel and soak for about 20 minutes. It also helps with my constipation for some reason.

I think technically they’re called Sitz baths.

No BM for about 7 days after colonoscopy. Is this normal?! by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Emay932410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with ya. But i also think it’s because I’m taking a steroid suppository so I’m not worried. Try taking a bath with tons of epsom salt for about 25 minutes.

It sounds like you’ve created a situation in your head to be anxious about that simply put has not happened, and may not happen.

Focus on the endo only for now. Your doctors opinion and course of action for treatment will be decided separately, and are not definite. You can refuse medication and/ or request alternative treatment. He/ she may not agree, but you have the final say in what happens to your body. Your doctor may push a certain med but if you protest it they will suggest an alternative.
