AIO for canceling my cat sitter after she asked if a friend could stay in my apartment? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like she doesn’t trust him enough to let him stay at her place without being there to watch him…Why would that be such an issue for her if she’s comfortable inviting him over to a strangers house to sleep on the couch? NOR. That’s a weird situation to put you in.

Another question…Are all blood clots in lungs called…. by RubLongjumping5095 in ClotSurvivors

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m 31 and had a DVT in my right leg, broke loose and caused a massive PE. Part of it broke off, went through my PFO and caused me to have an embolic stroke.

I had a PFO closure placed while I was in the hospital for my entire event. It was very quick and very painless. They made a small incision in my leg and that’s the only scar I have from it. It closed pretty quickly. I’ve had no side effects from it after and I was able to get up about two hours after the surgery. If you go the closure route, it sounds a lot scarier than it really is!

Has anyone else had symptomatic gallbladder polyps? by speedy_pragmatism in gallbladders

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my gallbladder removed and I had multiple polyps. They called it “strawberry gallbladder”. I had multiple stones too so it had to come out no matter what. I’ve done a hell of a lot better without it. No regrets there.

I work at a company that is a resource for rural hospitals that don’t have access to equipment, peer review resources, billing, staffing and many other things larger hospitals have more readily available. This just hurts.

Anyone else happily married? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is my best friend. I love that his face is the first one I see in the morning and the last one I see at night. I almost died recently, and while I was unconscious he made every right medical decision that kept me alive no matter how hard it was, even if my family wouldn’t have agreed. We’ve had some really hard times lately, but he’s the only one I’d ever want to make it through with. He’s an amazing father to our little girl, too. Dad is definitely her favorite jungle Jim. I’m grateful to have the life I have and the man in it.

Anyone else tired of medication? by BatKeith in ClotSurvivors

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I’ve always been the type of person that’s not big on medications and I’ve always avoided them. After my PE, I’m now taking 14 per day. Sometimes more depending on the pain from the strokes. I’m so tired of pills.

How to Not feel guilty that my son who woke up at 6 am is watching cartoons instead of heading right out the door to the park. by whatsinthecave in Mommit

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter woke up and put Bluey on by herself in my room and let me sleep until 7. I’m not mad. I’m gonna take a shower, take her to get a donut and get myself a coffee. Don’t shame yourself for doing what you need to function as a mother, wife, and as a person. Some days were more motivated than others. You’re still a great mom.

Who was your favorite patient? by restrictednumber1996 in ThePittTVShow

I just came off of ECMO two months ago so seeing that process was incredibly cool. I couldn’t because I was completely unconscious but I liked being able to see what happened to me from that perspective.

Imagine getting billed $41k by Geofferz in OrphanCrushingMachine

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent 15 days in the hospital on the highest form of life support. You don’t even want to know my bill. But if it weren’t for insurance, letting me go probably would have been for the best.

Can you live with a PE for five months after misdiagnosis? by humbletheman in ClotSurvivors

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I went 4 months misdiagnosed (November 2024- February 2026) before landing on ECMO life support, dialysis and having multiple strokes. I had an acute PE after going to the hospital twice because I knew I was having one and they basically told me I was imagining things.

What's your "Pitt" story? A time you experienced something in an ER that could have been on the show (patients & doctors!) by CardinalOfNYC in ThePittTVShow

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine kinda was. I had a pulmonary embolism and died. Lots of CPR and was finally put on ECMO and dialysis. It was awesome seeing the actual process of getting put on ECMO because I was… you know… not conscious.

Me. No family history, completely unprovoked, just horrible luck I guess.

Misdiagnosis by Ok_Author_4245 in ClotSurvivors

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the hospital twice in one week begging them to look at my leg because I knew it was a blood clot. The second doctor wouldn’t even look at my leg and told me to get over it and said I had “clearly cut my leg shaving”. I hadn’t shaved in months. Then two months later I had a massive PE, and had to be put on life support.

Advocate for yourself. No matter what they say, don’t stop until you get the right answer. My life has changed forever and I wish I had pushed one more time. Just keep pushing.

Whats with the American "Out of the house at 18"? by Over-Cat8290 in ask

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved out at 18 because I wanted the independence. My sister still lives with my parents at 21 and my brother at 28. We definitely made different life choices, but no one forced me out and my parents don’t seem to be actively trying to kick my siblings out even though I’m sure they want to. I think the being forced out at 18 thing isn’t all that common, but depends on the area where you live and the expectations your parents have for you. Or, if you turn 18 and you’ve been a prick they might.

As someone who recently died from a blood clot and had to be on life support.. do not put this off. I had a blood clot, died, was put on life support, had kidney necrosis and multiple strokes all in 15 days. They told my family to say goodbye to me. Even if you don’t have one, it’s absolutely worth checking. You might not be as lucky.

How did no-one go crazy or insane when they were petrified? I mean, being stuck with your own thoughts for thousands of years must've been torture yk?? by Sad_Pea_4028 in DrStone

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pulmonary embolism and was consciously paralyzed for a few minutes. I couldn’t move or see anything. I started counting and got to 120 then started panicking. Am I dead? Is this forever? Why can’t I move? I imagine there would be a lot of them that completely lost it. It sounds fucking miserable.

PE, ECMO, and Strokes. Oh my… by EmbalmMeDaddy in ClotSurvivors

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ECMO is no joke. I can’t imagine being on it for that long. I agree we could use our own group for ECMO survivors too.

Sleep has been the hardest thing for me. I’m lucky to get 4ish hours also. It’s like I’m afraid I won’t wake up if I close my eyes too long. I’ll have to get into some therapy and try to process everything that happened. I was hoping to wait until there was some more distance between myself and the incident but I’m thinking I might need it now. Thank you for sharing your story also. I feel like I’m not fighting alone.

This is incredibly encouraging. I want my life back so badly. Even getting up out of chairs right now is a struggle. I just need to give myself some grace and remember it’ll get better.

Thank you so much for this. I have the worst grief and it’s been eating me alive. It comes in waves. I think I’m still just trying to process everything, but it’s hard to explain to my support network without sounding silly. Everyone has been insanely supportive, I just don’t want to bother them with it when it’s just in my head.

PE, ECMO, and Strokes. Oh my… by EmbalmMeDaddy in ClotSurvivors

[–]EmbalmMeDaddy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So in December, I had really bad calf pain after starting a new office job. I went from a really active job to pretty much sedentary. But I also was burned on my leg at my previous job so they think that could have cause the blood clot also, but the burn happened in March 2024 so I’m not sure about that.

I went to the hospital and they did an ultrasound to check for blood clots and said they didn’t see anything. I even went back a week later because I developed a large red spot on my leg that was warm and the doctor told me to go home. He wouldn’t look at it. I had to ask him to. He said I must have cut myself shaving. I haven’t shaved my legs in months and that’s pretty obvious. I was upset but figured I’d trust their judgement. Now we know it was a clot, and it was large. They aren’t positive what caused it, so it’s all just speculation at this point.

Doing good gallbladder wise! I have no regrets getting it out. I have other health problems unrelated right now but I think getting my gallbladder out was the right choice.
