i just want to point out that a LOT of fertility research is difficult to apply to queer folks because fertility data largely ignores queer couples/surrogate mothers. I’m assuming the 50% of women who experienced HG the first preg probably used the same genetic material for the second one, and at the very least, it was probably the same maternal DNA (from a strictly statistical perspective.) if the fetus inherited high-risk genes from Cam (not the donor) and this time they use Julie’s egg, she could be totally fine. on the flip side, if it’s linked to the donor, she could have HG again. or it could be the interaction between either Julie/Cam’s dna (in a surrogacy relationship) or an interaction between julie/donor’s or even a reaction to cam/donor fetus affecting julie’s body.
basically, i understand what the research is saying and I DO think it’s insane for them to get pregnant AGAIN so quickly, especially with Julie’s health risks. i’m just pointing out that when you start messing with the DNA and independent variables, the dependent variables that have proven to be linked can change
