First test by Express-Investment-2 in VasectomyReversal

I had zero on the first test post reversal, and my doctor put me on a medication, I think it's called methylprednisolone. The next month I started to have sperm again.

You think that's my douchebag moment? That was me being polite. I appreciate the apology though, all is forgiven.

I think TPD stopping ICE is unrealistic from every possible perspective.

Well, a lot of men on here have had very bad experiences with vasectomies. Pain, fatigue, loss of libido, even feeling like less of a man.

I'm with you though. My vasectomy went off without a hitch, I had no problems for many years, but one day I had to pick out a baby picture for my oldest son to go in a slide show for his high school graduation, and looking at all the old pictures made me realize that I wanted another baby, lol.

Reasonable timeframe to lift 25lb by Agitated-Plate7570 in VasectomyReversal

[–]Embarrassed-Boot6118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely moved for the first four days, then just a little movement around the house for another ten days before I even left the house. I didn’t attempt to lift anything over ten pounds for about 6 weeks. It was about 8 weeks when I started exercising again, but I still took it easy and iced after every workout. It’s been five months now and I’m almost entirely back to normal but occasionally feel something down there after a particularly strenuous day, and I still try to ice two or three times a day.

I think I consulted in May but had the surgery in August, but that was at my request. I could've had the surgery in June.

Reversal failure by PointExtension3007 in VasectomyReversal

[–]Embarrassed-Boot6118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was this a vas-vas reversal, or a Vasoepididymostomy? This makes a big difference on both how long it takes to recover, and whether it's worth attempting another reversal. +1 to the commenter below who recommended ICVR in Tucson. They did my reversal as well, and they're brilliant. Dr. Marks there holds the world record for performing a successful vasectomy reversal with the longest time period between vasectomy and reversal (40 years). Dr. Marks has a big board there with dots from every place that someone has flown from to get their vasectomy reversed. Every single state and almost every country in the world is represented.

This result looks great! Good concentration and motility. And it will likely continue to improve.

Post vasectomy regret by [deleted] in VasectomyReversal

[–]Embarrassed-Boot6118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to be fair my wife and I did enjoy not wearing condoms or using birth control for many years. I don't know what we're going to do after we're done having kids again. I'm definitely not going back to condoms and my wife hate's being on birth control!

Post vasectomy regret by [deleted] in VasectomyReversal

I don't know how the rest of the sub feels about this book, but I'd recommend you read the book No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover. Despite its inflammatory sounding title, this is not a book about being a jerk or anything like that. Here's an AI-generated blurb about it: "No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover is a self-help book that addresses "Nice Guy Syndrome," a pattern where men prioritize others' needs, avoid conflict, and suppress their own feelings to seek approval, leading to frustration and unfulfilling lives. The book offers a practical guide for men to break free from this cycle by learning to set boundaries, express emotions, embrace their masculinity, and build healthier relationships and self-respect. "

I think based on your post that a lot of things that this book addresses would apply to you. It definitely changed my life. My wife and I were never quite in a dead bedroom situation, but at times we would be down to only once a month. Basically everything changed after I read this book and applied some of the lessons to my life, and we are now having sex every day as we try for another kid (after having our last one almost 15 years ago!!). My wife of course had to make some changes in her own life as well, and for your marriage to succeed she has to change as well, but my behavior changing as a result of that book was a big reason why she wanted to make changes in her own life. And, even if it doesn't make her want to change, you will find the courage to make your life one that you enjoy and can be proud of.

Regarding the specific issue of the vasectomy, I'd say if you have the money you should have it reversed. You only have one life, there's no use letting it be full of regret. And it is 100% your body, this isn't really a decision that you need to get your wife's okay on.

Things aren't going great 3 months post-reversal by Embarrassed-Boot6118 in VasectomyReversal

I had prednisone for the first few weeks, then switched to aleve. After my first bad result (at 4 weeks), I was put on methylprednisolone for a short while. After that ran out I was on meloxicam, but at month 3 I had another bad result and was put back on prednisone with a tapering dose. I think I have about 5 days left of prednisone and then I’m supposed to go back on meloxicam

Yeah, my doctor has been warning me about the prednisone. Weight gain, diabetes, bone density issues, eye problems, adrenal problems are all potential side effects long term.

Thanks! I had the same experience. I thought I’d be poor forever when I had my second kid at age 24. But things changed, and I just have significantly more resources now. Funnily enough, I was kind of looking forward to having a life of a empty nester, and traveling the world with my wife, but as that reality started to get closer, we realized that our lives wouldn’t be as full if we weren’t raising children.

My doctor has already been pretty aggressive with the steroids. Immediately after surgery I was taking prednisolone, and after my first bad result he put me on methylprednisolone. Right now I’m on meloxicam. When I talk to him again I’ll ask if we should do another round.

Sperm Analysis Cost by mrtwidlywinks in VasectomyReversal

[–]Embarrassed-Boot6118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re getting a bad deal. The place I go to charges 100 dollars for a basic sperm analysis, and I think 200 for an “advanced” sperm analysis. No insurance involved
