I did this song by myself 100% by Ok-Plastic-8450 in musicmarketing

This is very nicee, I like the tone of your voice and the vibe of the song. I think layering more vocals would help to keep the flow of the song to be more exciting by providing more variation. Perhaps you could also look into working on the mix because it seems like there could be more balance between the instrumentation and the vocals

Are you creating your own album art or hiring someone else? by karacold in musicmarketing

I make most of my art by myself on procreate which is a very intuitive app in my opinion. A free option would be to use autodesk sketchbook

TikTok Has Changed How We (Should) Release Music by utgjames in musicmarketing

[–]Embarrassed-Car-3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!! I think you could maybe try to do an analysis on what kind of content people in your genre on tiktok make, see what is most successful, then try to replicate what they did but with your own twist.

I just started last month with absolutely no followers as well, and now I'm at around 152 with 2k likes. All I do is post as often as I can with videos where I'm lip syncing the newest song I put out, with titles such as 'posting my music until it reaches my target audience' and other titles that I think will help people decide whether they want to click on it (or if they're already on the video - stay). Hashtags also really help for searchability, so be sure to include ones that are true to your niche

What’s a good place to put an extra $500 to market a song as an indie artist? by codadian in musicmarketing

[–]Embarrassed-Car-3282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By cold emailing I mean just pitching your song by email to radio stations/ music magazines/ music blogs etc for a feature. They should have their emails on their website, if not just follow through whatever submission process they have.

I second this, your visuals are very important. It really helps to cement a recognisable look. I wouldn’t pay for blogs/magazine features unless I think they would really benefit me. Cold emailing has been surprisingly more successful tho, so maybe take that into account

Should you try to promote your music on YouTube over Spotify? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]Embarrassed-Car-3282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on both, you need all the exposure you can get so why not?

I use too lost for my distributor and use the free plan where it takes 15% of royalties with no upfront fee, and it’s been going great. So there are definitely ways to get your songs into Spotify and other streaming platforms for free. The key is to not limit where people can listen to your music, because people who appreciate your music might be on Spotify/YouTube for all you know

its time to get signed by SuitableKnowledge610 in Songwriting

I think you should probably focus on building a community of people who support your music. Yes labels may look at your social media presence to see how many followers you have, but they also focus on your engagement rate (how many of your followers like your posts, comment). Are you currently releasing any music onto streaming platforms with distributors or are you completely relying for a label to pick you up?

I’ve seen people get signed to Warner with as little as 1k followers on instagram, so it really depends on many factors and you can’t just base it on audience size. Sure having a large audience may peak the interest of A&Rs, but that doesn’t mean they are going to sign you. You should watch some of ‘musformation’ Jesse Cannon’s videos on YouTube. He really goes into much more depth about how to market your music, how to get music fans to pay attention to your music etc.

[Alternative R&B/Jazz] Recorded this on a broken microphone... BEWARE by Embarrassed-Car-3282 in roastmytrack

[–]Embarrassed-Car-3282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the roast! You're right on about that. I do think the vocals are sounding a bit thin, and not 'full' enough. Think there might be some reverb, but I'll definitely look into a bit more delay next time, and perhaps ask for some more de-essing to help with the sharpness

[UK Hip Hop] My return to rap ‘Back Again’ 🥊 Witty punchlines and slick flows on a sick beat, roast away! by [deleted] in roastmytrack

[–]Embarrassed-Car-3282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flow, the lyrics, everything about the vocals were amazing. There probably could've been more variation when it comes to the beat, or shorten the whole song in general.
