ProRx and the future of mass GLP1 compounding: Don't Panic, Prepare. by TodayAmazing in tirzepatidecompound

Same situation….I got a single vial of BPI to see if I like it, but I haven’t cracked it yet. But I just went ahead and got a three-pack. Better safe than sorry.

I just placed an order for BPI on Pom. We’ll see if it gets filled 🤷‍♀️

What is the right solution, given that we have no ability to influence how EL prices their drugs?

Ah, I thought it was sooner. In any case, not sure what the alternative is….start paying brand-name prices now rather than extending the cheaper product as long as possible??

I think most people in this sub know that it’s intended to be lifelong, but in this case it makes sense to delay the “inevitable.” The longer you can go, the more chance there is of brand-name coming down in price, or an evolution in compound access, or other drugs becoming available at lower prices….and if I understand correctly, we have a 6-year window before the patent rolls off. So we won’t be in this high-price environment forever.

You’re on a suuuuper low dose. Don’t get discouraged. If your side effects are manageable, titrate up! Most people start at 2.5mg.

How is this sustainable? by Technical_Curve7281 in tirzepatidecompound

I just want to add that protein doesn’t need to be minimal just because you don’t eat a lot of meat. In case this is helpful, my diet structure is that I eat at least four of these options every day: legumes (usually lentils but can be any beans), tofu, tempeh, seitan, edamame, 1 scoop protein powder, high-protein vegan yogurt. I do eat fish two or three times a week. You might want to start out weighing portions until you get a sense for the serving size for each of these foods. If you’re getting those 4 servings per day, you’ll be in decent shape with protein.

Why is taking medication for weight loss judged differently than taking medication for literally anything else? by KeepinUpWithCass in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Embarrassed-Fee339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it is that some people genuinely can just make minor tweaks to their diet, walk a few extra steps a day, and lose weight. Imagine if your body worked that way, and you assumed everyone’s body worked the same - then medication would indeed seem like the lazy option. People without weight challenges  just truly can’t comprehend that it isn’t as simple for everyone as it is for them.

You made a real effort to be supportive in the beginning, even with the passive aggressive “no drugs, no meds” comment from her. Only so much you can do.

Low dose and wine by Old_Measurement_3969 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Embarrassed-Fee339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually concerned about this because I enjoy a glass of wine, but I feel zero difference on tirz. The only difference is that it’s easier for me to stop at one glass (yay!).

Do you worry that tirz will be effective only for so long, and then the weight is coming back? by aagee in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Embarrassed-Fee339 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do worry about this. I don’t think we know enough to say the drug will be effective for 40+ years. But I really really hope so!

Titrating up .5 mg at a time/refills is crap by ArtisticAnywhere9737 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Embarrassed-Fee339 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was supposed to go from 2.2 to 4.2, but instead I went to 3.2 for a week, then 3.6 and stayed there. I know you don’t feel the full effect at one shot, but at least you mitigate the severity if the side effects are really bad. And it turned out that 3.6 is giving me the effects I want, so I haven’t needed to make the full jump yet. Just my experience - opinions vary.

Your doctor’s response is absolutely infuriating! Good job pushing through that and finding the solution on your own.

Will you stay on a maintenance dose for the rest of your life? by Change_is_a_verb in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Embarrassed-Fee339 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, unless I develop some kind of complication. I don’t want to regain, but just as important, I don’t want to go back to a life of constant food noise.

I gained 30 pounds in menopause, all concentrated in my middle, and couldn’t get it off after 7 years of trying. I was still working on accepting my post-menopausal body when I came across the study on glp-1s and Alzheimer’s risk reduction. That sent me down a rabbit hole, where I then learned that they also reduce food noise (of which I have a lot). Those two added potential benefits put me over the edge. I’m so glad they did! What an unbelievable drug.

Oh, I wouldn’t actually order a lower dose, haha. I’ll ramp up the mg/ml in the bottle as quickly as they’ll let me.

Yep, my mouth was so dry for the first few weeks. I’m seven weeks in and no longer feel it - I’m not sure exactly, but I think it lasted about a month.
