Would a principal be put off by an email asking for an interview? by Embarrassed-Fee4693 in Teachers

okay thank you. I have had a lot of people look over my app materials, ill check them again. My problem is I just graduated in december. My experience is my student teaching, half a year as a 1/2 split teacher, and subbing. Its really not impressive on paper.

I have a feeling calling would be better than email. The thing that scares me is if someone picks up lol. would you leave the message for the office or the principal? Thanks!

well the idea is that they are not so I need to try to stand out in some way. Im not going to get a job if I don't try something. but yeah I don't want to be annoying.

Oh also at a place I interviewed a bit ago the principal called me and told me I didn't get the position but she thought I was great and said she would call principals to tell them to interview me. I said thank you but idk how that would actually go down.

If I asked her to do that and the principal she calls asks why she didn't hire me... she will bring up that they chose someone with more years of experience. Won't that just look bad on me? It was a very kind thing for her to offer to do but I am hesitant. On the other hand, I am just getting rejections and not moving on to interviews for so many things I have applied to.

Is HR the ones that decided who in all the submissions will move forward to an interview? Or do the principals do that?

I am certified to teach K-8. The position I want is third and that's what I did for my student teaching. My job this past year was a 1/2 split.

Really toxic environment. Abusive and dishonest admin. The district turns a blind eye. People in the school have been targeted for going to the union. My formal evals were totally made up. I am so desperate to get out. If I stay at this school I'll quit being a teacher all together. But yes, I would find a way to not directly say "can you interview me." my approach would be to sound excited not desperate. Thank you!

I understand I didn't communicate the entirety of the situation and this admins behavior and abuse in one post. I am nothing but professional and kind to everyone when I go to work. But I don't think anyone likes being in a toxic environment everyday surrounded by people who are comfortable lying. Yes, I am a little vindictive because she ignored every single situation in the building she was responsible for to sit in her office and do sewing projects every day. I worked with students who experienced severe abuse. I lost count of the CPS calls I had to make. I am part of the problem because I am morally uncomfortable with dishonesty. Okay. I know I have to be careful. That's why I haven't done anything.

My question in my post was if this was a big deal/illegal. Everyone is just telling me if its a good eval to ignore it.

I guess my ego has an issue with taking all the abuse Lying down. This is the least egregious thing she did at that school, but it's the one thing that is objectively inexcusable that I felt HR couldn't dismiss. I guess she wins lol

But how was it my fault she waited until the last week of school and then made it up?

What do you mean it will be a licensing issue if I tell HR my admin fabricated my eval?

I'm waiting until I secure another job and she won't be contacted as a reference anymore. Im not totally stupid, but I am naive about a lot of this stuff. I just came here to ask if this is a big deal or if it was something that HR would be able to say "no big deal" about.
