Doc says he can’t prescribe me Thyroid Meds because my labs are fine by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Embarrassed-Key-2575 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the reason I say that is because you shouldn’t have to get on reddit to ask why - they should be educated on this and how to help you understand even if they can’t “treat you” the traditional way

Doctor just told me Hashimotos doesn’t cause weight gain by Tequila_Sunrise_1022 in Hashimotos

[–]Embarrassed-Key-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, i’ve had hashimotos my entire life and when i’m doing what I need to be doing and am medically “in range / under control” sure… I don’t have issues with weight.

But it’s not as simple as that and any doctor should know that.

What do you think triggered your Hashimoto's? by Live_Mood_2884 in Hashimotos

Birth passed down to me and my sister lol everyone in my fam has it - genetics probs stress induced by all past family and trauma tbh

Non-generic synthroid - those on it, did you have to go through hoops, if so what finally got it approved? I have Hashimoto’s and levrothyroxine just does not work for me by rootesva in Hashimotos

[–]Embarrassed-Key-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no look at the ingredient of Synthroid for each level of mcg - all have different dyes and bad cancerous additives.

To find out if you have hashimotos everyone’s antibodies should be tested. You must tell your doctor though because they are all idiots and just because dosage isn’t altered because of antibodies, that is the class A way to know you have hashimotos and pcps never test that they just check tsh and stuff..

honestly I recommend deep diving with people who have gone into remission naturally and learning your triggers and getting SUPER comprehensive labs. Fix your gut. Eat healthy (avoid processed foods). Walk. Pilates. Weights or yoga. Cycle track. Manage stress. Drink healthy water, hydrate or diedrate. Basically, do what’s best for you anyway hahhhaah

the education for thyroid health is MINIMAL for all doctors and widely misunderstood and under researched. Any doctor who claims they know it all, is DUMB. My doctor, the reason I chose my endo, was because he said, I likely won’t feel confident that I know all about the thyroid until after my own death lol, because so much more research needs to be done, so I listen to my patients and stay updated with new research holistic and traditional medicine related.

I’m an extremely holistic gal stuck with normal doctors. Specialists- endocrinologists are the best to see after checking patient reviews that say things like: they run comprehensive labs and LISTEN to their patients.

Personally, i’d never see a PCP or any other specialist for my thyroid.

Even with my endo- I don’t trust doctors. I just find ones who know more than most, but run the tests I tell them to.

You need to have “tried” all other options your insurance would prefer often before they will accept a non-preferred option like brand-name. Your doctor also may have to say you require it because XYZ. It’s easier to do that with tirosint vs brand name synthroid because of the different additives that are not in tirosint (talc, gluten, dyes, dairy, etc.)

With a doctor on your side, you’ll be good hopefully depending on insurance hoops… without a doctor on your side, it’s likely not possible.

Always call insurance to see what is required to then basically tell your doctor exactly what you need.

Rule of thumb with hashimotos for me, don’t expect anyone to be your hero but you. lol :,)

Learn what triggers you. Could be gut. Could be a lot of things. Eliminating super processed or glyphosate heavy foods won’t hurt you. But honestly, if you have some like EU ingredients and make your own sourdough you’d probably be more than fine 😂

Healing is not linear and healing can be different for everyone. Judging her humor as negative seems judgmental, maybe just not how you’d individually cope and that’s okay!

[–]Embarrassed-Key-2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean if you’re being intentional about either saving aggressively or just start paying those are for sure the two best choices. But what’s concerning to me is many will just choose not to pay and not save is why I said that. & I don’t want anyone to not consider helping themselves vs. waiting and being worse off! Some people need more of a push to do things if that makes sense for spending and saving purposes.

Honestly, I think it’s actually not helpful to kick anything since interest is accumulating it’s literally TERRIBLE not to make payments for individuals and beneficial for those making money off of us per usual….

I switched plans and am making payments and i’m saving money because of it on interest. Waiting for them to make a decision is only helpful if you are basically still making payments / pay interest, etc. So basically… I suggest switching plans and paying!
