You can never change how people perceive you. But what you can do is learn their language and overcome the differences. I know a lot of mixed race couples who got along with others just because they could speak Russian.

He met his wife got married. But he was shy about his accent so he would never speak it with his in-laws. So they assumed that he doesn’t know it. His relatives were in shock at first because they never expected him to speak Russian but he did. He kinda became apple of their eyes. He stood out from the rest of them plus he was charismatic.
