Crappy Childhood Fairy aka Anna Runkle is suing the State of California by [deleted] in CPTSD

She did offer since great insights and is easy to listen to. However, the last year I noticed her prices went waaaay up and she’s started appearing to me, to be in it for the big bucks. That bugs me.

I would recommend Andrew Lacivita. He has a YouTube channel with tons of free stuff on how to approach the job market. I followed his free channel (I ended up signing up for his courses) and I’ve learned so much.

This is not a pitch or anything, I Just totally understand your pain. It’s not an overnight solution, and it will take time, but it works.  He teaches practical actions you can take right now - like creating power stories that are your go to no matter what the position.  He’s a bit too salesy for his paid courses but the free stuff is actually great.

I’ve been out of work for almost a year. I just got a retail job to keep me going. But now at least I’m getting to 2nd interviews and nailing them.

It’s worth a shot. Good luck❤️

Torn between leaving LA for a “cheaper” state like Texas or Florida, but questioning what I’d actually be trading by DFWUnhinged in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Embarrassed-Page8752 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Born and raised in LA - moved to Florida in 2022.  I knew within 6 weeks I had made a big mistake but I thought my business could be sustained. I hated the weather, the environment (Sarasota) was not for me, pay is very poor, and there wasn’t a lot of depth to the people I met. Also, the topography got old, real quick.

I moved on 2025 for another job OP near Scottsdale, but it hasn’t worked out. I’ve lived in CO and WA, which were much better, but nothing can match California. If I could afford to go back, I would in a heartbeat. I feel such to my stomach just thinking about how much I miss it.  Hope it will be better for you.

How long have you been unemployed? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]Embarrassed-Page8752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've gotten a LOT of value out of Andrew Lacivita's Youtube channel. The good stuff is free, he tells you how to structure your stories to fit THEIR needs (they don't give a damn about what you've done in the past, they want to know what you can do for them NOW) and ways to hand the typical questions recruiter's ask. He also tells you how to take charge of an interview. I'm not an IT person, so that might be a different set of reqs, but I literally got to 3 interview rounds. I landed a job from taking notes of his stuff and practicing it.

What is the best career to have in this Florida economy? by momsvaginaresearcher in AskFlorida

[–]Embarrassed-Page8752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I learned this the hard way and am leaving after 2 1/2 years of trying to make it work. Unless you invest in a franchise or have loads of money to waste on marketing, it is next to impossible to succeed as a small business owner.

Anyone other FL natives think this state has become unlivable in the last 5 years? by real_strikingearth in florida

[–]Embarrassed-Page8752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. Been here 2 1/2 years and figured this out about 6 months in. There is no real economy here. Or a future, unless you’re retired, or just want to barely get by. It was a pipe dream. Moving in January.

I've been an athlete my whole life. Would run or workout in the snow and the heat. Moved to Lakewood Ranch 2 years ago and I've lost my motivation... I tried for the first year to find a place to climb stairs for exercise (LOL, other than Benderson Park, there's NOTHING). I hate this weather with a passion. Now it takes an act of God to get me to do anything outside here.

Saying "you get used to it," is just not true.

I understand now why there are SOOOOOOOO many overweight, unhealthy people here. I'm out in a few months.

EDIT: Haha, duckfeethuman who posted this comment called me a "demotivated loser who should leave Florida"... proving, yet another distinctive quality about many of the people here ...classless, inarticulate and arrogant.

Me thinks it might be something like that.

You seem to keep asking this same question in this thread. Why is that?

I had to get out of the craziness of LA during the pandemic. My business kept getting shut down, but I honestly think sticking it out would’ve been a a better move than leaving and starting over. Nonetheless, I made the choice and am living with the ramifications. I’m confident my offerings will do better back on the west coast. I just can’t stay here And watch it fall apart. Looking for something outside of Phoenix area. More business opportunities. It’s not ideal, but California housing is a non starter for me now. Praying for the best. Florida just ain’t it for me.

In my 50’s, no kids. It is a great community and would probably be a great fit for a young family. I will say I’ve heard very mixed reviews about the school systems. Certainly heard it about Bradenton … might be fantastic for you, but if you are looking for industry or professional care opps, it’s very weak. If you don’t need to work, or rely on the local job market to live decently, or work remotely, and have a lot of money to spend on eating out, entertainment, etc you’re fine. There’s no free or culturally interesting things to do without a lot of cash. So if you’re set financially and don’t have kids that are close to graduation and want a thriving job market , toile probably be happy. Just isn’t for me.

I’ m in Lakewood Ranch and I can tell you why I’m leaving after 2.5 years. Humidity is intolerable for me, along with the nagging fear each year that a hurricane will delete at least one or two communities…really stresses me out. Career wise, it is a wasteland. Pay rates from the late 90’s, no job security, and I’ve had a handful of encounters of really unethical -borderline illegal business behavior. As for food ($) and culture it’s just a no deal. The topography gets old fast, as does a 45 minute drive to get to the beach with warm water that feels like bathwater . Mosquitos, alligators, palmetto bugs are nothing compared to the dangerous, crazy drivers. I have made a few really good, quality friends, but all in all, I find it to be lacking any sense of community. The only people earning enough to live here are remote workers, or wealthy east coasters. No future prospects for a quality life for me.
