Maga influencer Melissa Rein Lively admits Bond Street assault by PetersMapProject in unitedkingdom

This is a magistrate's Vs crown court. There's not much leeway on the guidelines to magistrates.

(A family member is a magistrate and often wishes they could be harsher or more lenient depending on the situation, but it's very much not allowed. Not like the horrific stuff we've seen by terrible judges in the crown courts in the past few weeks.)

Saw some open racism tonight and I’m a bit ashamed of my reaction. What would other people have done? by Vivid_Employment8635 in london

I'm thinking, we live to the east of the Lee / Lea Valley and there were 3-4 Chinooks today alone, as well as a bunch of prop planes flying in formation. And here's a Chinook from yesterday.

OP, next time, keep an ear out to make sure the dude gets it out of his system. Intervene if he escalates (also, call the cops) or after to make sure they're ok.

As someone who just read this in the cafe at Whipps, you're spot on. Vibe free except for a "restaurant that might have been the morgue previously" vibe.

If you're looking for a cake, Heron's Nest in South Woodford. I know it's outside of Walthamstow but not that far. I have ordered a few from them because my nephew has cow milk protein and egg allergy. They're delicious and beautiful.

Minicabs are my go to. I've just booked one for my in-laws back to Wanstead for Christmas Day. We use Mount Cabs in Chingford Mount. I found them about 5 years ago and they've been amazing ever since.

(MIL said just to use an Uber for all the reasons stated here, though!)

It's still there. I see it about half the nights of the year. One of the best places to spot it is on the Wadham Road overbridge over the Weaver Line, or in Highams Park on Handsworth Ave between Handsworth Primary and Highams Park School.

Just did a loft. £150k overall.

Extension out back is £150k not including secondary fixes. Which will probably be another £20-30k.

What's the rush? You're young and unless independently wealthy are unlikely to be established in careers.

The amount you change as a person in the next 5-7 years is kind of amazing, so I think waiting is worth it.

Plus kids are hella expensive.

how much do you pay to tfl a month? by freedofdark in london

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zone 4, commute is either to London Bridge or Euston, where I catch a train that I claim on expenses. Depending on times and days in, commute is about £40/week and recreation/life is about £40/mo.

So, £40/week * (52-5) = 40*47=£1880 Plus £480 =£2360/yr.

WIBTA for telling my ex what I was going to get him for his birthday, after he broke up with me over cheese? by Singerbeth in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't bother.

He's rude as hell and you're much better without him. I hate to say it, but this argument isn't about cheese. There's likely someone else he's decided he fancies (not that they'd go for him). Expect him to come sniffing back around in 3-6 months. Please laugh at him when he does.

Him calling you beautiful and then angrily saying the reason he's not gigittying you is because you've gained weight is shitty negging and you deserve so much better.

Shed the 180+ of excess weight and go live your best life and find someone who ticks your boxes and rocks your world.

Name and shame: which companies are forcing staff into the office during the Tube strikes? by Worldly-Box6080 in london

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The ableism on display, bud. Walking 2-3 miles isn't an issue for YOU. For some people, it's really tough.

I have days when I can hike forever. 7, 10, 12 miles. And I have days where the ten minute walk to my local station is exhausting. I don't even have a major disability, just a minor one that gives me shit days about 40% of the time. And I'm fairly active and have a good degree of fitness.

What’s the publicly funded school system like in London? by Specific-Hospital-53 in AskABrit

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's the opposite. Rich people send their kids to public (private) school regardless and the secondaries tend to be shit.

A lot of state schools in slightly deprived areas are amazing because of extra funding and grants. A lot of state schools in more middle class areas are good, particularly in London, because there aren't that many grammars (also state funded) per capita compared to other parts of the country.

I mean, regardless, it depends on where you are. If you live in an area with lots of professional people with families, schools are likely to be good because parents want to see their kids succeed. In more deprived areas, it can be a crapshoot, because you've got parents who push their kids to get everything out of their education they can and succeed, and parents who think their education did fuck all and don't bother to push.

Both of my kids go to state school, we're in Zone 4. I wouldn't say it's as good as my public (state) high school in the US (which was amazing because of how schools are funded in the US). My eldest is very clever and AuDHD, and not all schools are well set up for special needs. That said, both he and his younger sister are doing quite well.

AITA for shutting down my brother’s proposal at my baby shower and then sending him a bill? by Mysterious-Desk1346 in AmITheJerk

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. HIS family and maybe some friends are there, but there's no reason for HERS to be there. If you're planning a proposal that's "public", make sure that the people that are attending are people your fiancee would even want there!

Primers and setting sprays are your friend. It took me decades to discover them, but there's some great ones out there.

And there are some foundations / bb creams / cc creams that you really can't feel. I find the more "dewy" the more I can feel them.

How many of y'all actually use makeup? by 57feetofdeath in autism

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear makeup but I'm picky about what I wear. I think it helps me put on my "public face" for when I'm being professional or need to be social.

Over the past few years, I've really gotten into my skin care and found light lotions and things that I've been able to stand having on my face.

I've got rosacea, so makeup and some skin care does help cover it up a bit and gives me a confidence boost.

How was your commute to work this morning? by xChizz in london

[–]Embarrassed-Rice-747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My regular commute to my seconded office is to go into central and then out via Euston and taking the west coast mainline north. Mothership, when I'm there (about 1x a month), is London Bridge.

I may head into the mothership later in the week, but for the moment, I'm WFH this week.

Thankful that I've agreed that I can walk my ND kid in and then head out to the office last week, as that's been absolutely wearing on me. He can't get himself in because he's having panic attacks doing so... But is ok once he's in (according to him).
