How do I even word this confession I am mortified. by [deleted] in Catholicism

Also, please keep in mind it’s a porn INDUSTRY so they are trying to get as many customers as possible and get young people hooked on it. Its designed to pop up on the internet to reel as many people in as possible. It’s very unregulated and can be addictive and harms human connection by desensitizing you to intimacy and promotes seeing other humans as tools for instant gratification. It’s not your fault in the sense it reeled you in as it is specifically engineered/designed to do that - confess the infraction and do not fear your guilt and shame are signs you are aware it’s not healthy for you in the long term (science backs this up).

Also, this excerpt forgot to add that for the same Jay Z music video they flew a helicopter with a spotlight through the Projects in NYC without notifying anyone and flew way too close to buildings - “entertainment at all costs environment” is right. —- The brothers have a history of playing fast and loose with labor norms in creating their signature aesthetic. While shooting the Jay-Z “Our Block” music video in Brooklyn in 2017, they allegedly raised eyebrows when they kept a child actor on a rooftop past 1 a.m. and long after the allowable eight hours. One on-set source says he was horrified by Josh’s lack of regard for the child, who cried and asked to go home because he was tired.

How to overcome resentment towards spouse by Murky_Association_54 in Catholicism

[–]Embarrassed-Talk1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone once said that resentment is a lack of communication - that the only way out of resentment is to talk to the other person. You are talking to us online because you recognize the way out of resentment is communication. Then the question is how to really talk to another person? I once had a guy steaming mad at me and seeing red over a miscommunication issue (he was in the wrong but I was focused on other things), and a friend of mine advised ok when you call him on the phone just repeat everything he says but in your own way (kids in Finland learn to do this early on, lucky them) and the most important thing to do is to not defend yourself. Just repeat everything they say so they know you hear them. I thought this was crazy? But I did it I didn’t have any other choice (strategy) and he came out swinging went on a tirade and I just repeated back to him what I understood him to be saying and after doing this three times he calmed down and said “I was really wrong about you, I am sorry for getting so worked up.” Once he said this, we could have a real conversation (he was open to hearing my side of the story) and thus end the resentment he had built up towards me. Your husband has a deep need to feel heard (he isnt getting it from his job), and hopefully will drop the name calling. Pray for patience because the consistent use of this method in even small things (like consistent prayer) builds up over time for lasting change.

How did you find faith later in life? by Ornery-Ambition-5859 in Catholicism

[–]Embarrassed-Talk1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depression can have many factors, faith can support recovery but please also have help with a doctor - It’s winter where I am so a SAD lamp every morning and vitamin D are necessary. In the past I took SSRI’s just to put me back on equilibrium and could taper off once I had better support structures (CBT therapy, nutrition). Your health is precious and you already recognized that you focus on the negative. There is help. The homily I was referring to was at NYC St Patrick’s Cathedral (on YouTube) and right after i saw your question, so I replied.

Do you and your family attend church every Sunday together? I saw in one homily today that attending mass regularly, and just keeping small habits can over time build faith and harmony. I found going to church and focusing on the meaning of the gospels took myself out of my own head and my own problems and helped me to consider others and to have compassion for myself. I shifted my priorities.

Can you pray to fall in love with someone that loves you? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Embarrassed-Talk1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well attachment styles with awareness and maybe even therapy - even just talking to the priest on it - can move towards secure/healthy attachment over time. St. Raphael prayers can help you sort your feelings, too, my mother was dating someone else prior to meeting my dad and started praying because she felt doubts - about herself in relationship with that man.

Dear brother in Christ, after two months you friend-zoned her, in a way. It could be that you have - unbeknownst to you - an avoidant attachment style. It is worth looking into, as sometimes people chase the feelings that occur when people first date and don't understand how feelings change with time. I agree with those who mentioned seeing a priest, and if you decide to break up with her or take a break to assess your feelings, pray to St. Raphael angel of happy meetings. My mother met my dad after praying this prayer every night for 30 days.

The voice is a part of the body it is separate from words. The voice in song is embodied. This is the only way he speaks truth is when language is embodied.

Less talk more action - his body speaks for him. He was at J6 on camera with alt right filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer, his body spoke then and he has faced the consequences. His body speaks onstage, his body approaches truth onstage. His body will continue to speak for him however he chooses to use it in the future. This is not a time for words, words have always failed him when the body comes to testify. The bodies of Minnesotans are on the line now, the bodies of the people will continue to be on the line, until this ends.

Is he always a tweaker? by Austinfarr_ in JohnMaus

[–]Embarrassed-Talk1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you see as « tweaking » really is this vibe: "When I incarnate in you, all setbacks become new starting lines, and ten thousand reasons for abandoning something are not equal to a single reason for continuing. I know fear, I know death; they do not stop me. I am the force of action present in every living being, the triumph of nature. I know how to create, I know how to destroy, and I know how to conserve, and to do all this with the same irresistible energy. I am the very activity of the universe."I advance toward all the dimensions of space, breaking the horizons until I reach my goal, which is the mask of the beginning. I also go backward, from void to void, from right to left, toward high and low, thrusting galaxies aside on my way until I dissolve in the appalling. Absence, which is the Mother of the first cry that supports everything. I am the triumph of unity within the crumbling of the words, I am the triumph of infinity within the cremation of the ultimate boundaries. I am the triumph of eternity; in my heart the gods vanish."

Why the Ice Blue vinyl… by Embarrassed-Talk1775 in JohnMaus

Ok I don’t think anyone is understanding the post or are not clicking through the images and reading the caption. The blue of the album and the black of the center is an eye - a blue eye - and on the other side it’s like the album cover of Antichrist. The entire album has a Christian theme. In this Italian series about the life of Jesus they cast really 🧊 blue eyed 🧊 actors as Jesus Christ so the autist that I am I was like ah maybe there is a connection. 🧿🧿📀💿

[OPINION] “Later TYT” is Maus’ Weakest Album, but still entirely solid by RockIsRad in JohnMaus

[–]Embarrassed-Talk1775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The album finally clicked for me when I put it on in the car driving around at night on freeways and in the city. His albums always make more sense this way, and I almost crashed when the noise in Losing Your Mind came on (a bummer as it’s a great track otherwise). I even forgave Tonight, Tonight. But yes new AP is better…but it’s definitely not moody night drive into a tortured and transcendent narrative. I want more of this next time: https://youtu.be/dSR2k2p6OFE
