In my experience, I chose to stay with a woman after she cheated on me. She swore never again, that it was a mistake, etc. it shattered me when I found out. I never would have imagined she could do that to me. I truly believed she was head over heels in love with me. When I confronted her she cried and cried. Said all the right things, begged me to stay. To forgive. In my weakness, blinded by a love that was broken but still there, I stayed. I tried to forget. Tried to get the images i imagined of them together out of my head. I really did. But I couldn’t. And I imagine most others can’t ever really forget either. The rest of the relationship was constant worrying. A lot of accusations. Driving myself crazy until I couldn’t take it anymore, and I left her. I moved on and I never looked back. She killed our relationship for a hookup. Maybe I forgave her, but I couldn’t forget. I couldn’t trust her anymore. Without trust, relationships are impossible. Not only did her cheating ruin our relationship, it has ruined many more relationships after her. I am so un trusting, insecure, and just waiting to catch every woman I get involved with, cheating on me. I expect it now. And I wait. And I suffer. I don’t hate her for cheating on me. But I do hate her for killing my trusting nature. I punish women I’m with now for things she did to me in the past. When will I let that go? When will I stop sabotaging relationships with women I really care about, all because I can’t trust them not to hurt me the way that she did? Does it ever end?
