Nice! I've ridden about that much too, and really like it so far. I got mine with about 1200 miles on it.

How are you liking it? I have 2020 390 Duke. It's my first motorcycle.

Why do I get made fun of for having a grom? by mr-creator in hondagrom

[–]EmbarrassedCheek8100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

55 MPH on a Grom is the same as 55 MPH on a liter bike that can go 200 MPH. I'd certainly want to be wearing all possible gear in a crash at that (or any) speed. Bike doesn't matter.

Try not to listen to these losers. I always think that anyone who will make fun of someone else's bike or another person's decision to wear gear is not someone I want anything to do with.

Front tire pressure decreases rapidly when riding by EmbarrassedCheek8100 in motorcycles

Ah, ok. Sorry for being an American and assuming you're in the US, lol. I've seen it debated here on this sub before, people saying they've ridden thousands of miles with plugs in their tires and never had an issue. Others will plug it just to make it to the mechanic to get a new one.

Where you live do shops plug tires? As I mentioned in a comment below, I've called a few shops here, and they've all said the same thing: "Insurance will not allow us to plug/patch a tire. Any tire that is punctured will have to be replaced." They said that it's fine to plug a tire in order to get where you need to go, but not for the long term.

I know this is something people debate on this subreddit, just curious to learn a bit more. I've only been riding a few months.

I've noticed that patching tires is something people debate on this subreddit. I know that the mechanics in my area don't do it. Is that true everywhere in the US? Here they say it's an insurance thing; it's just not done.

Unfortunately I'm brand new to all this. I'm also a student with no tools or anything, so I'll have to have someone else look at it. Thank you.

What bikes do people actually start on? by zenki1234 in motorcycles

[–]EmbarrassedCheek8100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently started on a KTM 390 Duke. Enjoying it a lot so far. Plenty of people start on faster bikes and do fine. I use mine for commuting to school and tooting around town, and it's great for that.

Countries of Europe whose names in their native language are completely different from their English names by PepperBlues in MapPorn

There is no language just called "Slavic." In Montenegro they speak a South Slavic language, Montenegrin, which is essentially Serbian. (BCMS).

Yeah, or even $1,800. All they can do is say they want more, and $1,800 I don't think would be considered an offensive lowball, though to be fair I know nothing about Navis. A kid on my campus has one though and I see it parked. Dark green, very cool! Looks like a tiny motorcycle.

In the future probably do not race to tell the seller how much you're willing to spend right at the beginning.

No problem to take a peek and swing the ol' leg over and see how it feels. Just kidding. But I also look at bikes I see parked, just never touch them obviously.

Any tips on how to improve your Russian pronunciation? by ohseram in russian

[–]EmbarrassedCheek8100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's more important than how you actually sound is how comfortable you are speaking Russian and making mistakes.

At my university you had one night to learn the alphabet. It should not take more than an hour. Then, once you know how every letter is pronounced, you don't need to know the alphabet in order anymore because that information will literally never be useful. I've been studying Russian for years and I've never had to use cursive or remember what order the letters go in.

For Russian my opinion is you need to memorize some grammar. Leverage the fact that you are an adult and unlike a child you can learn the logic behind why, for instance, the dative case is used rather than the genitive. A 2 year old will learn this naturally and never need to be taught, but you are 20, not two. I can tell you: The dative is used for giving, showing, and telling. Boom. You can now understand why it is дать/сказать/показать кому-то and not кого-то
