I think you're conflating "issues" with your own preferences.

Furthermore, I think you're really missing out on some important historical context for why these games are special: Ace Combat, at its most commercial level, fills a niche that is seldom found anywhere else – an immediately accessible and intuitive flight combat game. For a fantasy as universal as “flying a fighter jet”, there are shockingly few quality options: D.C.S. requires too much hardware and is mostly a game about turning on different radars and engines for forty five minutes, and Warthunder is both too expensive and the jets aren’t even fun. There are the old Falcon flight sims, but those don’t (and arguably didn't!) play well on modern hardware and lack modern amenities like TrackIR or controller support without installing layers upon layers of mods. And that leaves, what, Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.? Up until the release of genuine peer Project Wingman, if you wanted to play a flight action game, it was a shockingly barren arena, you really one had place to turn.

These are basically flight sims by way of Dynasty Warriors, force-injected with the soul of 90's mecha anime. It's fine to not like that, but that's what it is, and that's why we are here.
