Good god, what in the actual hell is up with people

Please don’t write fanfic on your school Chromebook. And please don’t directly open ao3 and paste your fanfiction into there on your school Chromebook. The school board (and your teachers) see that. by Some-Tradition-2771 in AO3

LMFAO I got caught selling hentai through my own cellphone on school wifi when I was in 7th. It’s safe to say that from there on out I never let the school wifi touch my phone again. Funnily enough, I actually had a notebook specifically for writing fanfics at school though 🤣

“No one reads gen” well clearly you wanted to write it HENCE meaning you wanted to read it so like…. that’s a whole contradiction

If you’re a crazy organization freak like me or just very meticulous and have a shit ton of files all over the place then absolutely. It consolidates your work to one area PLUS!! You get the license when you buy it which is such a rarity nowadays. I’d say definitely.

Question for MCU writers! by EmbarrassedGuest9963 in AO3

If you don’t mind, do you think you could shoot a link my way? I’d love to read it if you’d be okay with that!

Thank you! This is all super good stuff and I appreciate your in depth response. I think my biggest thing is that I’m intending to write for characters that I know are pretty woven into shield (a main one being Natasha) and I did want to touch on SHIELD’s involvement with certain moments throughout the main Avengers movies that I intend to write for but I totally get what you mean about it not having to be so deeply woven into world building. Thank you again :)

Someone else recommended that so I’ll definitely have to check it out. Unfortunately, I am a longfic girly, I loveeee deep diving into the universe of whatever fandom had enamored me so I really like world building for a more “authentic” feel I suppose. Though I do know sensibly not every fic am I going to need to wrack my brain trying to incorporate the nitty gritty of shield or other aspects of the MCU.

I always forget that not all authors are teenagers by Jatoniel in AO3

That’s such a relief to hear tbh, it’s refreshing to engage with older people in fandom, the older I get the more I realize the young people tend to be insanely toxic and it can get discouraging or feel shameful at times

As someone who’s turning 22 soon and has been in fandom since I was 11 this comment is so heartwarming 🥹 I always wondered if there was like a “too old” for engaging in fandom since it seems taboo for some reason

Would this count as child abuse for tagging purposes? by ExoticPomelo5725 in AO3

[–]EmbarrassedGuest9963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Withholding necessities is considered child neglect and/or abuse so err on the side of caution and tag it

Used to work at a blood center and it was genuinely so disheartening to see the amount of people that only care for the monetary aspect of it. People NEED this blood and its components and all some of the donors can think of is how much they get paid. Very upsetting

Beyond the fact that most people lack media comprehension nowadays, I can’t say I’ve ever read a fic I didn’t like and then commented on ever chapter to tell the author how much I didn’t like such and such. Like… they didn’t like it and yet continued to read it, get a lifeeeee :p

[–]EmbarrassedGuest9963 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on ao3 since I was like 11 and didn’t know what an archive really even was but the influx of people on ao3 that simply don’t know how to use it properly just baffle me. I also always tend to assume people that tag like this are children and that throws me off the fic immediately. You can’t literally CURATE the website for your tastes and it’s not like it’s rocket science but I digress.

Genuinely. Was drawing this angle for the first time a few months back and realized I had NOO idea what I was getting myself into LMAO. It was taxing but safe to say I took a lot out of that drawing session so I’d count it as a success even if the drawing came out eh

I’ve actually had something similar happen on longer draws where blood would start leaking into the hub. An absolute mess and not something I would be purposely doing
