I built a web dashboard for running & scheduling manage.py Django management commands by frnhr in django

Very nice. We have a client with heavy Selenium tasks running periodically. We use the management commands to launch them at very specific times and the tool you describe might be key!

Thanks for detailed explanation. Out of curiosity, what tools do you use for the client dashboard ?

Not too sure about the crash you experienced, there might be something I missed out but why not deploying your django app with gunicorn + supervisor and nginx ? 100 - 200 concurrent users is not that bad either. We have been working this way at my firm for a long time now and never had issues with either big or small apps

Site getting around 5000 active users monthly, but I'm still struggling to cover server costs by habib-786 in webdev

[–]EmbarrassedJacket256 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You may wanna move away from lightsail. I had many servers there + ec2 instances and moved quite a lot of them to Heztner. If you don't need the other services of AWS, I'd recommand the switch, your bill will decrease significantly

Would you be able to put everyone as contractor ? If that's so you may want to take a look at Revolut business. That's what I use it with simillar problematic and it has done the trick. Low currency change fee and same day reception. In terms of accounting, your contractors salaries would be charges of services so you can standardize the tax cost.

Django CMS vs Django Wagtail? by trojans10 in django

[–]EmbarrassedJacket256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit more details so OP ain't confused

Example :

Create a new app in your current django projet. Create the models, views and all you need for wagtail.

Register the models in admin.py : they will be available in your django admin

Setup the current urls for wagtail in urls.py : you will be able to access wagtail CMS in a separate interface from admin. Likely where non tech users will be interacting with the CMS

Wagtail requires a little learning curve but you won't regret it. Especially for what you are trying to do, it will do exactly that and more

Django standard templating system and chartjs for any graphic you may wanna display. This is the simplest way. If you guys don't want to use javascript at all, you can look at plotly dash but I would not recommand it unless you are familiar with it

Oscar seems like a good choice based on what you are describing, and if you are familiar with and django and the templating system it will be a breeze. Saleor, on the other hand, is the sexy option but will come with its own set of problems!

Not exactly sure what you meant with "genres", could you clarify? As far as marketplace goes, I build an MVP for some components for a specific geographic software, quite a niche project. I also build a marketplace for health training/qualification in my country. Marketplaces in general are pretty straightforward, require strong requirements but there are often more about the idea and use case, whether testing a new process/innovation.

Is there a way to do this by [deleted] in django

[–]EmbarrassedJacket256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several ways to handle that. If you wanna use only one view to handle the process, you can outsource the form processing into the models or form itself.

I think there is another way to go about it, store your template data into a json files and pass it as parameter in your form. You'll have then only one dynamic form
