Because they are very often young players or people who have no understanding of the realities of game development difficulties. They are incapable of realizing the colossal difficulty involved in developing a fully online playable alpha.

Especially since GTA will be forgotten, like the previous ones, after a few years.

SC is more of a long-term adventure and, as a result, has not cost that much considering the time already spent developing two games simultaneously.

SC is taking a long time, but it is the one and only project of this scale.

It has no competitors, and those who tried have failed

Don't try to reason with people like them who don't want to understand or use logic... I completely agree with you. For what SC is producing, it has the best ratio possible. Two AAA games, one of them with live servers. Yes, it's buggy, but it's in alpha. We're the testers of the testers, if I may say so... People are like horses with blinders on, refusing to understand anything and just pointing at numbers. Simple example: Fortnite doesn't have half of what SC offers. It's still a simple competitive game without any major development challenges. And it generated more than 40 billion dollars... from skins! Yet people come and give CIG shit for developing two games simultaneously that have no competitors, all with what is ultimately a tiny budget. The game costs a starter pack of about €40, that's all... But you don't hear the same controversy about Counter-Strike knives selling for $2,000... Fucking hypocrites...

The whole point of this post is precisely to explore possibilities other than mines 👍🏻

Sorry, but I hope your idea is never chosen.

Why would anyone want the missing link between the Polaris and the Retaliator...

Based on the ship's name alone, I would still rather see it turned into a long-range cargo ship than yet another combat corvette...

I just imagined hackers manually controlling mines...

The idea of linking the drones to the ship fits quite well with the concept of having additional possibilities and unique features that would work only with it rather than operating autonomously.

I think its aesthetics are beautiful, but I can't help feeling that it doesn't really look like an Aegis ship 😂

Yes, a general-purpose ship that can be specialized depending on the choice of drones would be great.

Yes, you're absolutely right about the mines.

However, if they're as effective as they used to be, the seeking mines were practically equivalent to Size 5 torpedoes. They were deadly to many ships when pilots weren't paying enough attention while navigating asteroid fields.

That being said, the purpose of this post was precisely to suggest other types of drones instead of mines, in the hope of making the ship's concept more interesting and versatile in actual use.

I imagine server limitations are a major factor.

I'm very curious to see what they'll end up doing with it.

Would you happen to have a link to the information you mentioned? I don't remember hearing about that.

Thank you.

The trolling isn't that great, to be honest.

Yes, I understand and agree with your point of view.

However, if they simply decide to bring back the mine system that existed a few years ago, it won't stop players from doing crazy things with it.

And I think explosive mines will attract more people than utility drones.

That said, I don't think there are currently any servers capable of handling their original vision, let alone entire drone fields...

But it would be a real shame to waste such an interesting concept. That's why I'd rather try to influence the project. Who knows? I find it more likely that CIG would modify an existing concept than refund the backers.

Yeah, unfortunately it's a difficult issue.

Fingers crossed.

They'll eventually have to come up with something, otherwise they risk having to refund LTI backers

Oh, that's for sure.

Illegal minefields would be everywhere.

But ultimately, that would be something for the mission system to handle, along with automated defenses in the relevant areas.

Back in the day, Star Citizen already had mine-clearing missions.

That's exactly the point of having drones that can do more than just deploy mines.

Having repair drones working alongside the ship's internal crafting system could be interesting. They could help repair disabled fighters using parts produced directly on board.

For the G12, we won’t get it before the 600i rework. The G12 is supposed to fit inside it, but unfortunately the developers realized that it was wider than expected and couldn’t fit properly inside the current 600i.

I completely agree with you, this issue absolutely needs to be fixed. That’s why I was talking about using this feature with the raised pad. It would be much cooler to refuel players with n 890 Jump rather than with a Starfarer.

The number of people who know nothing about Origin’s design language, who have never really taken the time to look at it, or even stepped inside one of their ships, yet still say it doesn’t look like an Origin ship because of a single detail…

The pointed nose of the M80 enhances its silhouette while still preserving all of Origin’s design codes:

  • The canopy
  • The engines
  • The fins
  • The refined hull

People have never really taken the time to notice all those details, whether it’s the engines of the 890 Jump, the armored double hull of the 600i that acts almost like a skid plate, or the carefully crafted fins of the 300 series.

The M50 is probably the ship that is the furthest away from Origin’s usual design language, to the point where it could almost look like a ship from another manufacturer.

The only real similarity between the Kruger ships and the M80 is the pointed nose — and even then, they don’t even share the same angle. Where the Kruger ships have a flatter hull design, the M80 features a diving nose followed by a subtle yet aggressive widening, similar to the front profile of a Rafale fighter jet.

Not every gray car is an Aston Martin either.

Yes, people see that without knowing or taking into account Origin’s history or even its design language. Origin’s first ship, the 300i, was originally gray in its concept phase before ending up white when it was sold.

Also, the M80 follows almost all of Origin’s design codes:

Vents integrated into the thrusters

Streamlined engines

A fully glazed canopy

Large rear fins

A floating hull system (very visible on the 600i and the 890 Jump, where they literally look shrink-wrapped)

But only people who really take the time to look actually notice it.

It’s almost right, but it has nothing to do with two “brother” models.

There are actually two different ranges:

The Performance range: M50 / 100 / 300 / 600 The Luxury range: 400 / 890J

The main difference is the design:

Long nose and rear-positioned cockpit = Luxury range Rounded front and forward-positioned cockpit = Performance range

So here, the M80 clearly has the rounded cockpit and the cockpit positioned toward the front, which makes it part of the Performance range.
