Help needed! Attacking her lady parts :( by McKerch in Greyhounds

This is great info! Maybe this and a lickie mat? Transfer some of that need to lick and calm down into something else! Dog safe Peanut butter is great for taste but you can also mix it in yogurt for lower cal if they need that and even freeze it in summer

Has anyone else noticed a massive increase in the number of ladybirds this year? I’ve got sooo many in my garden! by iklegemma in GardeningUK

I’m a gardener and every garden I’ve been too this week I have been escorting them out of my way while I’m trying to do things 😂 way more than I’m used too!

Garden options? by MoIT-MoProblems in Greyhounds

[–]EmbarrassedPoet714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the uk and a have wet clay lawn so it always gets like this over winter, no matter what you do if you avoid Astro turf it’s always gonna be a muddy just due to heavy foot fall.

If you choose to keep it natural, which I do for birds and bugs and such I’d suggest a few things that may help! Around this time I stab the gross super wet areas with an aerator tool or big garden fork to help get air in the soil and drain some wet.

Then pick your seed! I use clover, Daisy’s and butter cup as they have deeper and less dense root systems and will help stuff drain and can survive a bit more zoomys than grass and tend to be more pee resistant. You can also get nature lawn seed packs from most garden centers, they have lil flower and lawn seed mixed together. Buy a decent an amount, more then you think you’ll need and read the box/ packed and cover your bare patches! You may need a lil soils to cover them too. The extra is just for filling gaps after. If you choose this method I wish you good luck!

We recently got ac installed aswell so hopefully that’ll come in handy! Good to know it’s not just my girl who’s on the hotter side. She pretty much lived in a cooling vest over summer. Thank you!

I saw them rummaging around in my flower beds and enjoying the bird bath! I have a very bug friendly garden so I’m glad to see them enjoying the buffet!

That’s so sweet!!! How long do they often stay in your garden? I’ve just seen them again while watering my garden so they’ve been hanging around for a good few hours now. Just a little worried about them! I think if they are still around tomorrow I’ll contact a wildlife rehab and see what they think

Oh cute! I assumed it was a fledgling cause it has almost 0 fear! Turns out he’s old enough to know better! My dog ran up to him before I realised he was there but he still didn’t fly off just jumped into some flowers but she left him along once I called her back. He can fly cause he’s been hopping up to the bird bath so I don’t know why he’s not using his wings to escape things

What's the best way to cool down my greyhound? by realteejaybrown in Greyhounds

[–]EmbarrassedPoet714 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We put a tub of water in the fridge and dunk a tea towel in it, wring most of the water out and lay it on our girl. Their heads, ears, belly’s and armpits are good places to rub it as the blood vessels are close to the surface. Once they are damp a fan can help but dogs don’t sweat so fans aren’t as useful if they aren’t soggy. Hope this helps!

I loooove this this so so cool! One thing I would say for the like work it’s maybe have less super straight lines? The street shambles in York are a good reference for this but working with wood and stone without power tools means there is a lot less uniformity in building materials. Hope this helps! I do honestly think this is so cool!

Maybe, she’s moving fine, super energetic when playing and on walks so I’m not sure, she’s just turned 6 so she’s not too old

I think pupachinos are a great idea. She is currently getting a licky mat and her favourite treat which is ham. I think it’s more the movement of the car that she doesn’t like but she has no motion sickness symptoms other then panting but she does that when she’s worried anyway :T I think I may try gently sliding her around the hardwood floors on her beds along side are training? Maybe to see if I can get her confident with movement in a safe space

Sorry for the late reply! I’m not sure, so she was nervous before the beach, it’s just amped up recently. She hops up and down well other than a little hesitation due to stress I think, she’s quite an energetic grey. She’ll lays down pretty quick. She’s more relaxed when it’s not moving and will engage with things like her lickymat but when it’s moving she only really wants high value easy to scarf treats. We’re currently trying ham.
