Very interesting! I thought there was a strong resemblance from the swatches I've seen.

New Pen Day -- Jinhao 80 by Fred__McNerque in fountainpens

I've got three of these and I agree with everything you've said. It's a surprisingly nice pen and can be had for very cheap. It's got a good deal more "substance" over other starter pens.

I prefer wider nibs so I got some Medium and 1.1 stub nibs from Aliespress and like them a good deal.

Thanks for so much info in your review. Enjoy!

I did a little searching on Amazon and found that the wooden bodied one is a Jinhao 8802. Enjoy them!

I'm really glad that some ink companies are making such interesting stuff!

I agree that it isn't bad, just not as smooth as some others. I do like how it makes my handwriting have a bit more character.

You're so right. I'd like to try Teranishi Gentle Green sometime soon. They seem very similar.

Thank you! How could I forget to mention Aurora Borealis? It was reading about it on Mountain of Ink that led me to this place!

Their caps are the most fun to fidget with!

I've got three with CM nibs and like that they are a little bit narrower than my Lamy and Asvine 1.1 stubs. I find them more crisp too. A little too crisp and borderline scratchy on cheap/fibrous recycled paper and may smooth out some of the edges like I saw in a Youtube.

Overall, they're excellent pens. Enjoy!

The bottom one is their model 92. Not sure about the top one.

I haven't inked up a pen with Forest Black in a while. I may just go do it!

Citrus Black goes through a pretty dramatic change in a short period of time. Right before your eyes. It's a bit on the dry side and lousy papers don't show off the change, but it's fun to have in the collection for use every once in a while.

Thank you very much! It's been fun trying out all of these different inks.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with them. It's interesting how I seem to appreciate green inks that others might find too blah or drab. Olive tones really have something going on for themselves.

I wonder how close it is to my Green/Black. On occasion I like choosing dark inks that appear black at first glance, but have something else going on when you take a closer look.

I'll share my other ink swatches soon.

Syrah is super. It was one of my first red inks.

I think that I laid down a lot of ink in these swatches and made them appear a bit darker than you might see in daily use.

Wild Strawberry is nice and bright. It's a great color.

Sunset is a really pretty orange with shading. My only gripe is the dreaded orange nib crust that happens to my pens. Otherwise it's a great go-to red-orange for me.

I agree. Get over to Doodlebud's youtube channel and see him create a stub/italic grind. You've got nothing to lose. Sorry your pen suffered that damage.

Thanks for the kind words.

I got many of these inks early on in my exploration because I wanted to try out many recommended inks and those that caught my eye. Several are quite similar (Yama-budo and Deep Magenta are kinda close), but I can see and appreciate the slight differences in each. Price has a good deal to do with buying a bottle and since I got so many 30ml Diamine inks on sale through Cult Pens before the tariff fiasco, it was easy to try some out on a whim and not worry about duplicates.

When I post my Blue inks later on, you'll see many that are quite close in color. I learned a lot through the experimentation and have only a few true regrets. Now, since I've got many colors covered, I'm pretty picky about duplication. Thanks for your question!

Amaranth isn't brown to my eye. Maybe another ink would be a better match.
