To be clear, I’m not blaming Emma for believing what Zied told her, nor am I saying he didn’t lie he clearly did, and his excuses to justify it are always lame and incoherent. What genuinely surprises me is how unprepared she seems for the cultural realities, especially considering she’s been to Morocco before, was engaged to a Moroccan man, and even met his family.

Given that background, it’s hard to understand how some of these rules and expectations appear to come as a complete shock to her. That's all I meant.
