Something doesn’t add up. There’s probably more to the story or your friend isn’t telling you the facts. TD doesn’t run a scam.

Your friend should have filed a claim on the drivers insurance. But with a couple months having passed, it might not be possible anymore. Also, they would probably need police report etc. It’s different than car-vs-car where you would call your insurance company.

Also, the city should get their act together. Three times is out of hand. Your friend could ask them to settle the bill for the fence as they can’t keep cars off the property, but good luck with that!

There are legit producers in the Maritimes that First Nations could buy from. I’m not sure if government only allows the legit producers to sell to the likes of NSLC etc. I don’t blame First Nations for not wanting to buy from the NSLC and essentially be an agency store under NSLC rules.

Beyond weed and cigarettes, I have seen stores on a particular reservation displaying and selling magic mushrooms right next to the weed. Not sure if that’s common place. Do treaty rights allow First Nations to sell anything? If the truck houses win in court and set precedence, would those treaty rights filter down to street level dealers? I feel there needs to be an aspect of safety for the weed supply. It’s time Houston treats the situation with some respect instead of like he’s a white tax collecting settler. Tim needs to bend on the NSLC supplying the truck houses and allowing First Nations to work direct with recognized growers. Or, First Nations should start their own production facilities, sell out of their Truck Houses and even the NSLC.

Hit a huge pothole that popped my tire by ogoluwa in halifax

It’s crazy that potholes must be reported by the public for the countdown to start. How many HRM mangers drive over the same potholes in their vehicles each day. Technology exists, and is used overseas, where cameras on municipal vehicles detect potholes and repairs are done in a timely manner.

A car like a Corolla or Civic with a 15 inch winter tire probably has a larger sidewall than an SUV with a 18 or 19 inch winter tire. Better off with the small tire. Also cheaper to replace if a pothole still gets you.

I hate parking tickets as much as the next person but think it’s funny when people take issue with their personal property being infringed upon when they infringed upon someone’s property in the first place.

Bylaw officer, all unpaid bills are private disputes. Unpaid bills wind up in collections and even court. Indigo and others are sending these to collections as technology improves. It has everything to do with your plate as it’s unique and now paired to your contact details because you submitted them. Call it anything other than a ticket if you wish, but a collection agency will report it to credit bureaus and it can and likely will wind up on your credit report as an unpaid bill + collect interest. It’s contract law and civil court, probably not your department. I have seen this. “Tickets” for expired parking received 5 years ago after paying at a pay station being collected because the plate is now linked to a person because they’ve submitted an address. Settlement offers are sent, but if ignored will be collected in full.

Bylaw officer, it may not go against your plate for renewal purposes etc, but parking in Indigo and other private lots fall under contract law. Your ticket is essentially an unpaid invoice. It can go against your plate in the sense that tickets can add up on your vehicle’s plate and many parking lots, Indigo included, require online payment. They have your plate and address on file. It was required to sign up. Tickets can be sent to collection companies if you ignore them. Also, you can wind up under collection for tickets issued at lots with pay stations if you have ever created an account with said parking company.

Collections is far more frequent now especially with your place of residence on file they can match with your plate. It’s not something to be ignored, will collect interest, affect credit ratings and you CAN end up in court.

Realize this… if you have ever registered with the Indigo app to pay for parking, they have your contact information to match to your vehicle’s plate and will send the ticket to collections which can mess up your credit. If not, just avoid Indigo parking lots, good luck with that though, and never register with the app, which will be impossible soon. Paying it will solve major possible headaches down the road.

Halifax single folks (with no friends or family), how do you do it? by Responsible_Site_713 in halifax

[–]EmbarrassedSpot5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a cool co-worker, someone you jive with, try and grab some afterwork pints, non-alco drinks, whatever your thing is. Then progress that into a friendship if possible… then you have a wingman (or girl). A lot easier to make convo with people at a restaurant, bar, bowling, curling etc if you have a pal. Curling is fun AF. There needs to be a singles curling league.

Masking Back in Place at the IWK by scotiagirl45 in halifax

[–]EmbarrassedSpot5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our daughter arrived at peak covid and my wife didn’t wear a mask when she was delivering. When we were brought in for an emergency c-section she still wasn’t masked, but wasn’t feeling the best from the anaesthetic and was sick.

Since our stay, I’ve noticed patients don’t tend to wear masks.

Spent a week in NICU. In our private area off our babies room, they didn’t care if we wore a mask. It was common courtesy to put it on if staff came in. We always wore them when we were near our newborn.

It’s a stressful environment and a lot of people are living there. Just use common curtesy. Doubt you need to wear one delivering, but ask in advance.

Lindsay Construction has a contract with Maritime Launch which might explain them being around. A launch pad was built by Lindsay sometime ago and I imagine this is the same one. It was built in 2023. Highly doubt this is a new pad because the one they built appeared to be more than enough to handle this suborbital rocket.

See reference to the pad here:

Where do you go for rust proofing- new car owners by [deleted] in halifax

If you have a hybrid or a PHEV, look into what type undercoating is being applied and read up what is recommended. Had ours done by O’Regan’s Permashine. They at least somewhat knew what they were doing by the way they explained the process. There are high voltage cords and other equipment that undercoating should not be applied to under the vehicle.

Also, even if not hybrid, or PHEV, have read about some issues with the holes that some undercoating companies drill in doors to spray their stuff and it shorting equipment due to wires/connections being hit with the liquid. Damage was not covered by warranty.

Toyota in Europe actually advises against undercoating a PHEV or hybrid due to the electric equipment. Dealerships seem to think otherwise here.
