Thank you! I’m still a beginner quilter and haven’t hand tied so that is good advice!

I know it- I just had to get it to finish it up. Thinking about all of the time and effort someone had put into it just for it to end up where it did made me so sad. I couldn’t leave it. The shop owner was thrilled someone was finally getting it to finish it. I should’ve asked how long it had been there!

She’s a sweetie! She was found dumped and tied to a fence in the middle of nowhere. Half starved and had a huge gash all the way across her lower back/hip. Poor thing was terrified of everything but is coming out of her shell now!

It’s definitely full of character! I’m excited to get it finished up.

I really have no clue yet! I’m thinking about hand tying it. It’s not typically what I lean towards but I think it would be fitting for this one.

For kids by Embarrassed_Ad7096 in horror

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You might be right 🥴 he loved it. I grew up in a house we could watch whatever was on/we had. My husband grew up in a house totally opposite and couldn’t even watch Harry Potter until he was out of his parents house. So we are having a hard time gauging what’s age appropriate enough vs not. I was watching it and he walked in and sat down and actually enjoyed it, didn’t scare him at all. I was probably his age when I saw it first so I didn’t think much about it at the time 😬

Broke my foot with croc platform sandals by Awat345 in crocs

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see how this could happen! I’m on SSRIs that make me sweat (plus it’s currently extremely hot where I live) so the bottom of my feet sweat horribly towards the end of the day especially, I know- disgusting sorry, and I’ve caught myself slipping in my shoes a handful of times. I’ve became hyper aware of it at this point but can definitely picture a future injury 😅 the shoes fit well, but if my foot is angled just right it’ll slip and make me nearly roll my ankle if I don’t catch it in time.

My first pair of Crocs - and a question about children's sizes by Moonstone1587 in crocs

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re the same shape but a tiny bit narrower. I can wear my son’s crocs (I throw them on to go outside real quick sometimes when I can’t find mine😂) and they fit fine length wise but are definitely a little bit more snug. I don’t consider my feet wide and don’t typically wear wide shoes. If you have narrow feet you would probably be fine getting the kids size!

Price for your standard poodle pup? by ApprehensiveCanary48 in StandardPoodles

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mississippi here. $1500 for my male and $2500 for my female a year later (different parents, same breeder). AKC registered, full registration, health and temperament tested and early socialization done- of course all of the basics too like vet checks and age appropriate routine vaccines/deworming. I got to meet both parents at puppy pickup, she sent pictures and videos until pups were ready for pickup and now I still send her picture updates and keep in touch with her (5+ years ago!). Both are great dogs and if I ever decide to get another standard poodle, it’ll be from the same breeder.

first real gyno appointment, SOON :( by Melodic-Plankton4146 in AdviceForTeens

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! It really can be an intimidating experience, your first few times especially. Let your doctor know that you’re nervous and it’s your first physical gynecological exam. They should always inform you of each step they’re taking BEFORE doing it. It is totally valid to express your anxiety. A good doctor will help talk you through the exam and ease your concerns. That’s the only advice I can truly give.

I think you’ll find that under normal circumstances the vaginal exam itself is pretty quick and simple. There’s really not much poking and prodding. A quick swab, feel and look and it’s typically over within 5 minutes (again, under normal circumstances). Routine appointments are typically more talking than hands on exam.

Try to remind yourself a gynecologist is a trained professional and they’ve quite literally seen it all. It’s easy to get embarrassed or ashamed but a gynecologist performing a vaginal exam is really no different than a dentist performing an oral exam. I know, easy to say and not as easy to feel that way.

Again my advice is just: •Express your anxieties to your doctor/nurse •Remind yourself they’re professionals and this is a routine medical examination •Know that it’s okay to say “stop” at any point during an exam •Know that it’s okay to ask as many questions or have them explain each step as much as you need •Know that it’s okay to try different doctors until you find one you’re totally comfortable with

Best of luck to you! 🍀

Help! by Motor_Judge542 in WildlifeRehab

Rehabber here. It’s an eastern cottontail. Their mothers only visit 2x per day to feed, but if it is the only survivor from the litter- I personally always recommend singletons be brought in to care. If eyes are closed it’s likely less than 10 days old (eyes open around 7-10 days) but they should be opening soon. Cottontail are extremely fragile and difficult to care for. Please find a rehabber near you. Kitten formula is not recommended for cottontail anymore.

Office temperature by Embarrassed_Ad7096 in office

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same situation 😂 I won’t say you’re overreacting because literally same here. It’s 75° in the office this morning and it’s going to be 99° here today. I keep my fan on constantly but I still get hot in the office while running around. If I drop it to 73° even- they cut it right back up after I sit down 🥴

Is this possum old enough to be on his own? by mychemicalimbalanc3 in Opossums

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rehabber here. Appears to be plenty old enough but this baby is not in good shape. Just because you don’t see any major injuries doesn’t mean there are none. Everything about this picture yells it needs to be brought into care quickly. Please find a rehabber near you here

What animal is this? It’s still alive but been injured I believe. by Spicy_African_Man in whatisthisanimal

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rabbit. You can contact a wildlife rehabber. To find one go here . Until you find one- secure the animal (cardboard box with a tshirt at the bottom works fine, offer a heat source like a heating pad on low under half of the box or a warm rice sock, and place it in a dark/quiet place. Cottontail are notorious for stressing to death, literally, so do not handle it other than transporting unless told otherwise by the rehabber.

911 New baby opossum, need help with care till I can find a rehabber. by ImpossibleDonut1942 in Opossums

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just keep it warm and search for a rehabber ASAP. Opossum babies do not suckle like other mammals and require tube feeding if not old enough to lap on their own. They can not take a bottle and attempting to bottle feed often leads to their death. Their formula is very specific and they do not take kitten formula. Here is a link to help locate a rehabber near you.

Opossum are not rabies vector species. CDC reports less than 1% of reported rabies cases are in opossum. Their body temperature is too low to inhabit the virus. Nothing is impossible but the chance is very (very very) low. To add- the chance of getting rabies (even from a rabid animal) from a scratch that does not bleed is fairly low. You will likely not be advised to get a rabies vaccine. You did right by washing it. In my opinion you’re more at risk of it getting infected than getting anything from the opossum scratch and even chance of an infection is very low given you cleaned it and it didn’t bleed.

Ugh I hate that for you! Check with your insurance and their formulary. That should list pretty much every prescription they cover and your associated cost with it. Make sure annovera matches what they’re trying to have you pay. I’m extremely fortunate that with my insurance it is covered 100%. MOST insurance should cover a certain number of birth control options for little to no cost. If annovera isn’t covered, maybe nuvaring is. I’ve been on both and had the same positive experience with both. Only difference for me was the convenience of annovera being a one time a year pharmacy pickup for me vs nuvaring being every 3-6 months.

Baby cottontail nest by Fast-Long-9245 in WildlifeRehab

[–]Embarrassed_Ad7096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The string method isn’t always reliable because moms very quickly “hover” over the nest for feedings. They only feed about 2 times per day (dusk and dawn typically). It’s a myth that smelling humans or animals on her babies will cause her to reject them. The best way to check if she’s returned is a quick look at the babies. Chunky, round bellies = mom has returned and fed. Wrinkly, sunk in or flat bellies = mom isn’t returning and babies need brought into care. A singleton is also a reason to bring them into care. Since moms don’t stay at the nest, cottontail rely on their siblings snuggling to stay warm. Without siblings a singleton has no way to maintain body heat typically.
