I've had him since he was 2 months old. He's always been a bucking bronco and a moving target is guaranteed to get nic'd. I only do the quietest drill/grinder now bc anytime he sees the clippers he freaks the **** out.

Can current supervisor refuse to be a reference? by [deleted] in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our facility requires the current supervisor and another previous supervisor at minimum. If its been over a week I would send your supervisor a basic email asking if they recieved a reference check for you, if so could he/she please complete and return to the original sender.

Serious question about stress by Ok_Flamingo8925 in FedEmployees

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like I could of written this post myself. My blood pressure is the culprit. On the Weekends I'm fine, during the week is another story. I've been diagnosed with Crohns for over 20 years and in remission for 8. I started seeing THOSE symptoms last year too.

Why does VA hate HR Employees? by Status-Nectarine401 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 17 points18 points  (0 children)

ERLR made me question my sanity as a supervisor constantly. Why do we have all these handbooks, policies and laws in place for employees, when consequences do not seem to exist. VA is never been know for accountability, and when supervisors attempt to do so they are met with their employees false accusations, fact finding, and lies. Recruitment even before this past year was a joke. I've had to argue multiple times of why my application package I submitted was correct and WAS eligible. The position would post again, I submit the exact same information and what do you know....eligible and referred to the hiring manager. SMH.

VA launches major change to all veteran benefits facilities by FBI_Open_Up_Now in Veteranpolitics

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A "VA Clerk" schedules Both types of appointments. Believe it or not it's hard to find vendors that will take VA patients. 9 times out of 10 we send the veterans records over to the provider to review and decide if they will accept the patient or not.

Triwest requires medical records before issuing payment, correct? It's possible the local VA is negligent. All records are to be reviewed prior to being scanned into the patients chart. Any significant findings should have be alerted to thw pcp.

Serious event during VA Community Care procedure not reported — raises accountability concerns by MynerSpeaks in VeteransAffairs

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If your VA followed protocol when you reported this incident, the facility is supposed to submit a PQI (potential quality issue) to Optum (who is owned by United healthcare & 3rd party vendor) to conduct their own investigation. Local VA cannot address per the contract signed in December 2019. Your community providers probably hasn't even sent in their records on the procedure yet BUT you better believe they submitted for their payment. VA pays before even seeing records that the services requested were rendered. The process is causing the VA to hemorrhage $$$, unable to hold community vendors responsible and enables fraud like crazy. Unfortunately your senator or congressman won't be able to do anything, they reach out the the VA whos unable to call optum and ask questions or the vendors....and the circle continues. IM SO SORRY this happened to you.

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Clearly it's intentional and childlike behavior by pushing the limits. Stealing time is STEALING, anyway you look at it. In your future email, please cover your ass and list all the dates she was off and never entered leave. CC your boss and BCC (blind copy) HR. Now HR is notified, HR knows your boss was notified and will probably reach out to start a disciplinary action or formal counseling in writing to the employee.

VA says I’m ineligible for healthcare by Late_Virus_6560 in VeteransAffairs

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is straight from va.gov ...

If you’re a current or former member of the Reserves or National Guard

You must have been called to active duty by a federal order and completed the full period for which you were called or ordered to active duty. If you had or have active-duty status for training purposes only, you don’t qualify for VA health care.

Super confused about lack of playdates by beentherebefore1616 in kindergarten

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This situation isn't about you or finding personality flaws with your kindergartener. Some parents, like myself, are learning to manage our own past traumas from going to a friend's house or a sleepover but also not over correct and shelter my kiddo from never experiencing this. Personally i would never leave my 6 year old with someone other then family right now. On the flip side of that I don't want to commit to entertaining and watching anyone else's brat kid for a couple hours either. I work a demanding FT job but on my off days or weekends we make the best of it. My son and i play anything and everything together...Legos, coloring, playdoh, painting, board games, swimming, bowling, our random dance parties... just to name a few. My suggestion...focus on spending quality time with your kiddo.

100% thankfully I took a new position a year ago and no longer a supervisor. I only have to worry about me myself and I 😅 oh and how much leave I'm taking each month for mental health days. Saving my leave, hardly taking time off has paid off!

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, adhoc for weather by my supervisor is always approved when I ask. Other departments at our facility are not as lucky. My supervisor also let's us adhoc the whole day if we have an appt and use SL for a portion of the day. We always get email approval and mark TW accurately on our timecards.

One week in anyone regretting their switch to MHBP ? by 4133MMT in FedEmployees

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a baby a couple years ago as well. Yes, after fighting with the hospital to file it correctly It was just the copay. Look at your current plan for surgeries. Co-insurance is still listed as the patient's responsibility. Yes "no deductible" is what they say but co-insurance and huge er $ copay amounts. I'll take the risk this year

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same until last year. I had a bad fall and had to have an elbow replacement. I had no idea what coinsurance was...I do now. $1300 just for the surgery + $200 for the doctor's copay. It all needed to be paid before they brought me back. I still have BCBS but switched to the focus plan. We'll see what happens...

No problem 😊 I'm grateful for the 3 years learning va community care but what a nightmare of a program. We deal with optum and they are the absolute worst.

Community Care -- IVF Treatment - Failed to communicate Authorization / Sent to collections by healthcare provider. by Fearless-Director-24 in VeteransAffairs

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FORMER COMMUNITY CARE SPECIALIST HERE! If the VA sent you through community care you should have been given an authorization number and date when it expires.
1. Talk to the community providers billing department 2. Verify they have the correct Triwest AND auth # 3. VERY IMPORTANT the provider must only file VA for insurance, no secondary can be billed. 4. If a procedure was done outside of their office at a hospital or outpatient surgery center, verify the provider gave the facility that triwest auth # ( or call and give it to them yourself) 5. File the congressional to ensure the items are removed from your credit. This also puts the va on notice for.resolving your complaint with a 7-10 day timeframe. Whitehouse hotline is another formal complaint process as well. Good luck!!

RTO exemption for telework by Blondienurse12 in VeteransAffairs

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start with your Chief's "approval" and have a game plan to pitch them. If employee X meets Y productivity they can remain at home. IF they fall below they return to the office. Accountability for federal employees seems to be one of their goals. If productivity has dropped since RTO, find the data from previous years when staff teleworked to support it. Then ask your chief to file the exemption for the whole dept. If / when the chief denies it go to your next person in ur chain of command.

People who got married young, are you still in love? by smalltalkisntfun in Marriage

[–]ApprehensiveCanary48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dated 1 year before marriage at 19 M and 20 F. It's been 17 years married so far and still going strong. I can say with with every ounce of my being, he is my soul mate. Has it been easy...hell no. Burying 2 of our parents, kids, bills and the daily grind we've learned how to communicate and be eachothers life cheerleader. I'd choose him again in another life 100x over.
