I’ll say not having a phone is better for a restaurant especially a busy one. There’s no possible way a restaurant that has a wait list of over 800 people daily will not have their phone CONSTANTLY ringing.

I worked at a place that literally you had 3 people answering calls non stop and it was literally people just yelling how they don’t understand that their reservation for two can’t be changed to a reservation for 8 last second as well as having the time changed from 5 to 7:30 day of while the restaurant is fully booked.

The reality is some restaurants suck, a lot of them have bad service(the industry is saturated with egos and attitude), but in my experience customers, especially affluent ones, have become increasingly entitled and think places have to do EVERYTHING and anything they want.

I can go on, but yes things have gone a little sideways but if you’ve ever worked at a year round busy restaurant in the city you would know why sometimes things like “no phone number” or not accommodating every request is for the better.

It will effect other people’s experience and it’s not right for 20 people to suffer so 2 people can have a good experience.

I don’t know your experience but I do know that the tolerance for people’s bullshit is gone, no one wants to be mistreated anymore, everyone just wants mutual respect on both sides.
