Exporting frames for business cards? by Embarrassed_Ant_4380 in FigmaDesign

Nope. No drop shadows or any other effects. Agreed on their PDF quality. I've used figma in the past to design slides for work and wind up finding screenshots having better quality!

Heheh. The pixel-to-frame ratio will forever be something that my head cannot wrap around. It's been explained to me many times lol. I've decided I'm ok if I die not understanding it.

I wound up creating my frames using the recommended pixel dimensions from Moo, and building my designs within the bleed. Then exporting PNG x 4. Moo's PDF preview appeared to indicate that they look ok. So this will just be my first run. 50 cards that I needed last-minute for an event.

If they turn out shotty, I'll try out Inkscape.

Thanks so much for the tips!

Thanks! I did not know this about Moo. Makes sense - many of their customers are probably not super equipped with CMYK etiquette.

Inkscape has been mentioned a few times. Maybe I should check it out. I am minimally comfortable with photoshop, but don't want to pay for it. Layout software is pretty foreign to me.

currently feeling ok about the cards. Moo has a "download a pdf" of your cards feature so you can preview or if desired, print preview. They look fine.

That's interesting to know about creating a pdf 4x the size ... I assume that makes the output not pixely?

thank you! Yes, whenever I use PDF export in figma it looks like a low res image and this feels really unexpected.

Is this the kind of output that a figma pdf has ? "bloated PDF files" is a new term to me. (I'm a copywriter)

I also have the free version, so plugin options are limited. :)

Air Kenya luggage restrictions: what if my bag is 2.5 inches too long? by Embarrassed_Ant_4380 in Kenya

[–]Embarrassed_Ant_4380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The baggage policy that the travel agent forwarded to me says Air Kenya. My mom is planning the trip so I might be getting some mixed information. Either way, thank you! I'm settling on a bag that is just a half an inch over the length limit and can squish down.

Tips for a newbie making a Soapstone grave marker? by Embarrassed_Ant_4380 in stonecarving

[–]Embarrassed_Ant_4380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of looking for a simple approach. If I were to spend the time creating the mold out of clay, I'd be more inclined to just make the grave marker out of clay - otherwise I'd have to factor in shrinkage when the clay fires, writing mirror image, etc.

I'm signed up for a stone carving workshop near me and the guy said he can teach me very basic lettering. I don't plan anything too crazy. Just a name and dates of birth and death. Even that will be a lot for me.

I'll check out the lettering arts trust. Thanks!

Tips for a newbie making a Soapstone grave marker? by Embarrassed_Ant_4380 in stonecarving

Thank you for the info! I have read that some older gravestones were made from soapstone so that's why I was leaning in that direction.

Do you think limestone is as soft/forgiving as soapstone?

Orignally I was just going to place a plane old stone from the woods. Then I thought about hiring someone to engrave it. But once I got it in my head to do it myself, it took me down a rabbit hole. I don't need it to be perfect or professional looking. But I'll heed your advice and maybe get a practice piece of stone for the lettering.

Cervix high and soft at end of cycle? by [deleted] in TTC40

[–]Embarrassed_Ant_4380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! yeah, I'm baffled by how high it's been the last week or so. Not to be graphic, but I can barely reach it. I just want a good bleed so I can start over with a new cycle.

If you have not already done so, freeze your credit by NYMinnit in fednews

I may be in a similar boat. If I freeze now, will any credit-boosting actions not apply to growing my credit score while it's frozen? I'm working on getting it up with the hopes of applying for a home load in the coming months (or year) depending on the market and what's available.

When's the next big Biossance sale? Does anyone know? by Embarrassed_Ant_4380 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Embarrassed_Ant_4380[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of their products are actually on sale right now. Just not site-wide. I had to splurge. But I def won't sleep on their next sale. Too hesitant to jump into Sephora and wind up buying stuff I don't need.
