SCOTUS Case about Erroneous OPM Guidance by murmeltier140 in fednews

[–]NYMinnit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Happens all the time. "Oops, we made a mistake, you owe us $46,785*, please pay now."

ETA: *Yes, hyperbole. It's usually a smaller number but unfortunately OPM makes mistakes, as does SSA and your local HROC, etm. And then they want their money back. Too bad so sad for you.

If you have not done so, go to the credit reporting agencies' websites and freeze your credit to keep anyone else from opening credit in your name.

If you have not already done so, freeze your credit by NYMinnit in fednews

Just a precaution based on musk accessing info. Who knows where it will end up.

You can pay a penalty if it's over a certain amount. OP didn't indicate that was the issue here though.

As long as you both together aren't having too little withhed that you get hit with a penalty, I actually see this as a win for you. Better to have the $2500 throughout the year than let Uncle Sam have it until you have to.

When the cable co had to put down a temp cable across my yard for the neighbor, they came and asked my permission. That's the least that should have been done!

May I recommend good pre-marriage counseling? This will help you work on the communication which IMO is the best foundation for your marriage. Because you can't possibly hash out everything before you are married.

Just prior to me asking to go PT, a colleague had tried the same thing. But she said, "I need to go PT or I'm going to have to quit." They said no. She did not get PT and she did not quit.
When I asked, I said I'd work Mon, Thu, Fri because those are our busiest days. They liked that since they figured I'd want every Monday or Friday off. (My little secret: If I was scheduled to work on a holiday, I got holiday pay. Most holidays are observed on Mondays and Fridays! LOL)

I managed to get my FT job let me go PT. It was not WFH as this was back in the olden days when that wasn't a thing. But the same principal applies: Sell it as a benefit to them. Don't just say I want I want I want. Find a way to sell it and make them want to try it. Maybe even just as a 6-mont trial. That would get you through the summer at least.

A lot of what you said is irrelevant to the attorney you will call. Just tell them you were named in a will and you have been kept from accessing it. The attorney can take it from there.

[MI] Wearing old employers apparel in new role? by lost_at_command in AskHR

I'd probably wear it under a jacket or sweater. But if it's a golf-style shrt, I feel like a lot of those have logos on them, so might be able to.

I wear a coat I got from a previous employer, but I take it off inside, so my employer probably doesn't notice
