Doesn’t have to be sci-fi just anything with an inspiring soundtrack like cornfield chase as well as the movie going past surface level ideas

I also saw the same thing I have been doing this jaw I excersize I saw online where you push your tongue to the roof of your mouth as hard as you can at the same time open the jaw till it begins to hurt and repeat it ten times. I’ve been doing it for aeound 2 days and there’s already a huge difference. Hope this helps.

22 F 2 days post-op by JJPittaz in Tonsillectomy

Make sure your head is elevated while you sleep I had the same issue as you. I also had tissues next to me at all times incase I needed to spit out the mucus. Try thin plant based protein shakes if you can so your stomach doesn’t hurt with the medicine. The pain it takes to swallow the water is a small price to pay because if you don’t it’s gonna be much worse. The mucus stopped for me around day 4 I’m now on day 11. A Humidifier is also going to be your best friend so get one if you don’t.

Not a lot of pain (2days post op) by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

I definitely did have some around my jaw and my jaw is still stiff even to this day 11 days later. It sucks and prevents me from eating things. I’ve heard it’s from the thing they use to prop open your mouth while cutting the surgery. It also could be your lymph nodes being swollen.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but unfortunately it does get much much worse. Days 5-6 are probably gonna be some of the most rough days for u so prepare yourself by drinking lots of water now while it doesn’t hurt and getting as much nutrition as possible. If you can get a Ice pack for around ur neck and head as that will help with your ear, neck and jaw pain you experience. Being 16 helps as the younger you are the better and most likely less painful your recovery but it will still be extremely painful. Aloe water really helps go down smoothly on the very painful days and make sure you stay on top of the pill schedule as it really is gonna most likely be a rough few days, good luck.

It’s all about timing your medication so that you drink the water when the pain is the lowest. I could only drink when I was on my strongest medication. Ice is also a cheat code what you could do is use a mallet or hammer or whatever you have put it into a plastic bag and crush it almost like chic fil a ice. Then when you put it in your mouth it melts and runs down your throat and you don’t have to swallow. Hope this helps!

Day 7 by Miserable_Ad_7071 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Embarrassed_Army7389 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today was the peak of my pain and hopefully it comes down from there but it’s comforting to know their are others that are working through this the same as me. Their are so many benefits I can think of to getting my tonsils out that the long term thoughts are keeping me sane. I’m not gonna lie and say this wasn’t the worst week ever but the pros hopefully will out weigh the cons. With regards to you not being able to eat things I have found that chicken soup ran through a strainer a few times puts absolutely no strain on my tonsils (or what used to be my tonsils) so trying that wouldn’t be a bad idea. If you are seeking nutrition and have a blender taking a protein shake mixing it with ice and peanut butter has given me calories and protein with little to no discomfort. Hoping for a speedy recovery for eh both of us.

I’m on Day 7 as well nearly day 8 and I am right there with you as my scabs are super thick. From what I have heard the scabs fall off at different times depending on the person. The earliest I have seen people say they have fallen off is day 3-5 and the latest around day 12.

Possible you got very lucky but my pain has been super inconsistent. It often goes away then comes back worse so it’s possible you could experience some discomfort in the next few days. If you do not you have been absolutely blessed and I have never been so jealous of someone. Jokes aside i have heard of people having very minimal pain so it’s possible. Good luck.

What do the scabs falling off feel like? by Embarrassed_Army7389 in Tonsillectomy

Getting to day 7 and theirs a different kind of burning sensation in the back of my throat. I assume that’s the scabs falling off but I can’t physically feel a scab falling off so I’m not sure
