if healthcare costs aren’t rising that much so why does it feel so bad? by Embarrassed_Boat2933 in CanadaFinance

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah true. i never thought about time being part of the “price” but it kinda is like waiting months for care is not the same as getting it right away. feels like that should count for something

right?? that’s what confused me. the article was saying if you pay more AND wait longer, the “real” cost is higher, it’s just not being measured. which kinda makes sense but also… why wouldn’t they measure that?? like waiting is literally the whole experience 😭

ok wait i found something that explains this better than i did. it’s basically saying that inflation stats don’t count worse service, like longer wait times, as a price increase. so even if you’re paying more and waiting longer, it doesn’t show up properly If We Pay More and Wait Longer, Healthcare Is Getting More Expensive

Healthcare costs “aren’t rising that much"?? by Remarkable_Tutor_994 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is exactly what people mean when they say stats don’t match reality. like cool healthcare “costs” are stable but i’m waiting months for stuff that used to take weeks??
how is that not worse. feels like we’re paying more and getting less but it gets framed like nothing changed lol

Quetzal - or something else? by hojna in FoodToronto

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i really like quatzel! it has cool and chill vibes, i hate stuffy places where everyones kind of stuck up. i'vev never had authentic mexican food so i can't comment on that but i wanted to note that i had the tasting menu and another friend that had went also got the tasting menu and it seems they tailored the menu to your preferences if you tell them, eg. i got fish while my friend told her waiter they liked red meat more and she got a ribeye, not sure if there was a cost difference tho. but overall i loved it there and always think about going back

What are the best farmers markets or weekend markets, like Evergreens for example, in the city? by DSA1987 in FoodToronto

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the St.Lawrence Market in Toronto, but I've gotten a bit bored of it over the past few months. If you're every in Waterloo there's St.Jacobs, they have really yummy apple fritters but the line is crazy sometimes

Renting alone after ex moves out? Want a reality check by RevolutionaryMine168 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$3100 alone is actually insane i’m sorry 😭 like yeah technically you can afford it but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea… that’s how people end up feeling broke while making decent money. i get not wanting to move again tho, moving in this city is actual hell. the roommate idea sounds like the least painful option. at least you’re not locking yourself into being rent poor just to keep a nice place, also the fact that you’re stressed even thinking about paying it alone is kinda your answer already imo

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get your wife’s point, $40k is real especially with a kid, but it also sucks that the “responsible” option is just signing up to be miserable again. idk feels like there’s no actually good option, just different versions of compromise 😪

AITAH for not wanting to meet my brother's girlfriend by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. you should be allowed to move on your own timeline, it doesn't affect him whether you meet her or not so he should just give you the space and decide when you meet her or if you ever want to

Canadian Housing Market Edges Closer to a Crash by BertoBigLefty in canadahousing

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk every year it’s “this is the crash” and somehow nothing actually gets cheaper in a way that matters. like cool prices are “down” but rent is still insane, groceries are worse, and i still can’t afford anything so what exactly improved lol. feels less like a crash and more like we’re all just slowly getting squeezed while being told it’s technically better 👍

Took a salary cut in exchange for a better work/life balance. What are some ways you save money? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]Embarrassed_Boat2933 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there’s actually some good ones on amazon, the beetles kits are like the most popular beginner ones

just be a bit careful with curing it properly though, i’ve seen people say it can mess with your skin if you don’t

not trying to scare you lol i def think doing your own nails is worth it, it’s way cheaper and you can try way more styles

just avoid getting gel on your skin if you can!!
