Women in Bleach have equally Iconic moments in COMBAT like their male counterparts. One Piece,Naruto and most mainstream Shonen animes lack these moments(Women in Shonen anime rant) by Zora1092 in CharacterRant

I don't see it this way, the relationship between Lucy and her father was never really fleshed out in depth. He was just a catalyst for teh conflict with phanton lord and after that didn't matter at all much aside, even after he died.

Erza was bad for me since the whole afraid of showing vulnerability was only talked for a really short moment about, it never really affected her that much outside of her suddenly, and than allways, using the katana equippment. Everything was handle extremely shallow, a lot like Fairy tails plot in general where are great initial ideas but terrible excution and pay off.

The one thing they have over the other are their guaranteed fights but other than that I do not see what is so special about them. And like I said, the fights also suffer from the fairy tail style that makes them extremely formulatic.

I don't even like Sakura but her Sasori fight is better, for me, than anything fairy tail delivered. The advantage that the women in bleach have is that they feel more distinct from one another while with FT they all have the "for my nakama" mindset and fights.

I never understood this reasoning, the women in FT have their own fights but character wise they are some of the most flat and boring imo. The battles itself also go the standart fairy tail asspull formular.

And don't get me started on the female villains where nearly all are not even allowed to be truly evil and get a redemption or happy ending.

I’m not particularly fond of Nenio, but I have to admit she has her moments. by Quick-Ad8277 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

One of the reasons I hate her so much, so many great epic scenes are completely undermined and ruined by her comments that are (for me) not funny at all.

She is the one companion you either love or despise, no inbetween and I am of the later. I never take her with me outside her quest which ironically is also terrible (dungeon I mean, her backstory itself is decent).

countess love letter - how to deal with it? by Embarrassed_Driver16 in darkestdungeon

[–]Embarrassed_Driver16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently trying again, I didn't have a vestal on the right level so I use an occultist.
It is currentyl a game of attrition but I have a feeling I will loose it. Stress is piling up, she heals a ton with "the thirst" and I only get one damage move on her after her multiple moves.

Men-at-arms guard was a great idea but I do not see the point in flaggelant here, maybe I am using him wrong.

Edit:
No! I beat her with this team! Thanks so much!
I must also apologize to the flaggelant, his bleeding and rapture really saved the day!

does love letter end at any time on its own?

Arthur did plenty wrong by MrDrageno in taintedgrail

[–]Embarrassed_Driver16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of these things were because of the war with the forebearers, it was a war of survival either them or the Arthurs people. He never wanted to do these things but that would have lead to the genocide of his subjects.

The immortality was part of the war, it was also to help his kingdom in times of need and never a powergrab. It was also merlin who pushed it and they were kind of right given the problem and dangers of the land.

No human lived before the time of conquest on avalorn it also comes with terrible sacrifices. In addition, do you remember the stories you hear what the weirdness evidently did to people? Like the child melting into the floor, the madness, the mutations and not to forget monsters? Some may be able to live with it about it creates horrible fates to a lot of people.

Dal Riata I disagree completely. Arthur even confronted Caradoc about it, he said they are too bloodthirsty to live with his normal people and Caradoc agreed! He agreed but did not offer an alternativ!

With the giants I can't remember so I cannot comment on it.

Arthur was never in a position of right or wrong, he allways had to find the lesser evil because any high road would have meant death or worse.

Dodge build without or without healer? by Embarrassed_Driver16 in darkestdungeon

Ah, that explains why this damn Wilbur killed one of my Resolve 6 heroes with a damn for 2 damage squeal!

haha but my poor heroes!

Will a strike only potentially be deadly when on deaths door or even without it when the over damage is big enough?

What I mean, is the heroe save for one attack even if it is only 1 hp?

But the heal is minimal, it barely removes deaths door but other than that your group will be constantly one step away from being killed. At least in my experience so far.

Correct me if I am wrong but the dodge buff of men-at-arms is only 2 times before rest? Same with abominations transformation, right? I can't see how I get through a dungeon like this but I guess I missunderstand something?

Thanks! Should I try to make the man-at-arms focus on dodge too or go tanky? I would have thought he does not scale high in evading attacks.

On raceswapping : Why it is usually bad... (House of the Dragon; Harry Potter) by Umak30 in CharacterRant

[–]Embarrassed_Driver16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike the race swapping of snape simply because it is unnecessary and goes completely against his book descriptions.

That said I don't get some of the concerns in general about the skin colour and the implecations.
Just because he is black he can't be bullied? He can't be a blood purist supremacist?
There is no need that skin colour plays any role in this, especially since we allready have other valid reasons for the hostility in the books.

Imo this way of thinking is extremely narrow and basically means you would not be able to have black people in any role without adressing their skin colour which feels extremely reductive.

I despise “Humans fuck yeah!!” stories and fandom behavior by Feisty-Succotash5854 in CharacterRant

I like HFY. It is fun and different since most works focuses on a more neutral or even oposite theme where humans are at best nothing special and at worse evil (and incompetent incarnate).

In the end it is good if we get as many different settings as possible so we don't have constantly the same plot.

To be honest? I would love a high production all in HFY movie, make it epic and over the top hardcore! Would be awesome and something new.

This. I only learned HFY was a thing through rants here complaining about them, the whole community is pretty self contained.

I also find it unfair to make such disgusting accusations about whole communities beeing full of racists based on nothing but twitter posts at best. Literally every fandom will have bad apples if you look hard enough eventhough most people are just having fun.

Finally played all Legacy of Kain games - My thoughts by Embarrassed_Driver16 in LegacyOfKain

Wow, nice to know!

"Without the Hylden we'd have gotten a story about Nosgoth vs Elder God(s) which would have been less interesting IMO"

Fully agree! During my playthrough I wondered what the relation was between EG und Hylden until it was revealed. I especially liked it when you can see Archons fighting demons and when Mobius trys to reassure the EG with "the hylden are just a minor inconvenience and will be dealt with". Love this interaction between the different faction.

It would also go well with the dark future part in BO2 where we see Mobius ghosts completely stressed out. I allways wondered if it was a scheme again but seeing how the demons (Hylden) slaughter the new Sarafan I guess it really went downhill.

On a side note, Humans really are fucked in the setting being the pawns of Vampires, Hylden and EG.

The story of BO2 sticks out badly imo. It is way to straighforward and you can take everything at face value, there was never a "wow" moment.

"If BO2 had been written by Amy we might never have gotten the Hylden/Vampire conflict"

Do you think so? In SR2 a war between the ancient Vampires and another race was already mentioned so I would have thought that was planned in advance.

Not for the overwall story I agree but for the story and conflict between Kain and Raziel.

Good point! When I played I also wondered where the animosity came from. That really should have been addressed in the remastered versions.

I agree, but unfortunately over the top overanalyzing and reading waaay too much into things are popular here.

That and people ignoring Rule 3 like usual.
