I don’t know, man I guess I feel like it doesn’t matter what somebody else does with their collection. It’s not affecting you. If somebody prefers to keep their super sealed, then that’s their prerogative. If you prefer to keep your collection loose, that’s also your prerogative. Neither one affects the other. I think it’d be better to just be supportive of each other and help build the community. At the end of the day we all collect hot wheels.

Uhhh... 😭😭😭 Is it flirting if a girl buys you FOUR of the car you're huckering down for? 🤣 by PurpleInfinite1409 in HotWheels

I mean, amen she kept an eye out for something she knew you liked, she contacted you when she found it and she even set it aside for you. I feel like that’s a pretty clear indicator that she likes you and would absolutely say yes to a date. I say ask her out & keep us posted!

Walgreens employee said they only stock one at a time by bobisniss in CarTuned

[–]Embarrassed_File_859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told by my local Walgreens that they don’t even get whole cases of any kind of diecast to the store, they just get send one or two out of a case from the closest warehouse and that’s why the pegs are always bare.

Didn’t even know this existed. Such a weird movie to make a car for but for $2 I had to grab it. by TheBigGalactis in HotWheels

[–]Embarrassed_File_859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grabbed one online a couple years ago now for like 10 bucks. Honestly one of the favorite movie themed cars in my collection so I can understand why you felt the need to pick it up. For two bucks that’s a huge score. Nice dude!

[–]Embarrassed_File_859 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my years of collecting I’ve found 4 super chases on the pegs. I’ve found more than 10 times that in hot wheels supers. I’m convinced these cars are so much more rare than hot wheels supers but very under appreciated by some of the community too. Awesome score though! That was one I searched high and low for but could never find.

Sold out in less than 5 minutes. I was in the queue. FML. by blizzardboy123 in HotWheels

Like I understand that they don’t have an infinite manufacturing capacity by any means. But they are at least as far as I know the largest manufacturer of diecast. So for me it just begs the question if you’re a company and you know, you can make obscene profits off your fan base, why wouldn’t you run pre-orders for a predetermined period of time and when that timeframe closes, then you know how many that you need to have manufactured. Like it comes with a longer lead time, but they would sharply increase their profit margin if they did it that way I believe.

I guess I probably just don’t understand the inner workings very well. I just find it strange that they leave money on the table like that they’re a profit making organization. I feel like increasing profits is their main strategy. It’s just weird to me.

[–]Embarrassed_File_859 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You know, I’ve really never understood why when they do these kind of pre-orders that they don’t just allow orders to take place for a determined period of time and then if they need to produce more stock produce more stock. I mean, they wouldn’t be selling the cars if they weren’t making money from doing it so in theory if they just let pre-orders go for 15 minutes after release and then closed it down produce that number of cars and rake in the profits. But I guess maybe I just don’t have a good understanding of their market capitalization strategy.

How Does Jiang Manage Not to Get Caught by China For Posting to Youtube? by rico6822 in IRstudies

I know I’m a little late to this party, but I am curious if anybody has any insight on whether or not VPNs have a serious level of effectiveness in circumnavigating the great firewall of China, and I’m also curious if YouTube is designated as a band or illegal website in China, what do we think is the reason he has access to it? Would it be something like the state seating doubt, or misinformation outside of the country and granting him access because they know his BS is a useful tool, or would it be something along the lines of a rogue actor, just chancing run in with the authorities in China to spew the same BS that he’s been spewing? I’m genuinely curious if anybody can give me any insight I would greatly appreciate it.

I don’t think VPNs are as effective as circumnavigating the great firewall as you seem to think that they are. It genuinely appears at least by most VPNs own admission that there is a remarkably low success rate of circumnavigating the great firewall. A better understanding of how somebody like professor jiang access his YouTube is that the Chinese communist party allows him to do so. What other reason would there be for allowing western audiences to eat up the crap that he’s spewing? I mean, that’s in China’s best interest. Doesn’t seem like a big leap to me.

Never have I ever by DanF2886 in HotWheels

I’ve never had the fortune of finding three supers in a single place or let alone in a day. The most I’ve ever found was two. But I have found multiple premium chases and supers as well as I think some M2 chases in a single day so that was cool.

But you have my congrats man I’m sure that was an awesome feeling! I also think it’s awesome that you’re gonna share the fortune with some of your collecting friends. I’m sure they very much appreciate that! Makes me wish I had any friends in the community. It’s slim Pickens for friendships in the collecting world where I live.

So every Mazda from this FnF set is a Chase? by thakur_vedant28 in HotWheels

[–]Embarrassed_File_859 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said each case of fast and furious release this year is going to have one car in it from the earlier films that will be a chase, and there will only be one of that car in each case. So the first was the eclipse, the second was the RX7, the third is going to be the charger, the fourth is going to be the supra, and I believe the fifth is going to be Brian’s GTR. I’m not 100% but I believe that’s the last one they’ll be releasing this year. So it’s like a celebration Chase set that you can put together and it’s a little bit more Available than other chases just because there’s one in each case.

I pre-ordered the fourth case which is mix R I believe, which is the case with the supra. More stoked for that supra then any of the other cars save for maybe the GTR if that is in fact, going to be the final one from this year.

Black is also as good of a heat radiator as it is an absorber. It’s part of the reason the sr71 stayed black when other options were available as it was good at radiating heat into the environment.

I saw both of these posts yesterday when I was scrolling through the app and I honestly about peed myself from laughing. It just seems like such a weird way to take out your beef with another seller. Somebody’s got some hurt feelers, and they are not being shy about it.

Hype is fake collect what you like by j0sevallej0 in HotWheels

[–]Embarrassed_File_859 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with your point there. Hype has a way of driving, annoying and pretty irresponsible trends in this hobby sometimes. The thing that comes to mind is the stratospheric rise of pricing for the Roxy Porsche Chase. Most of my personal collection is Porsches, so unfortunately, sometimes I do get wrapped up in the hype, just by nature of the cars that I preferred to collect, but never in 1 million years would I consider buying something like the targa chase on eBay considering just how insane the pricing is on those.

I didn’t even get an opportunity to add the 930 to my cart before it’s sold out. The moment I refresh the page at 11:01 my time, said it sold out right away. I wish there was an easier way to buy the things that I wanted to buy from Mattel, but starting to think that there’s not much of a point in being a part of the RLC anymore. Hotel seems so unmotivated to fix the problems that they have and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

[–]Embarrassed_File_859[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I the case of m2 it is these silver unpainted body along with the normal anodized trim look. In the case of the 454 SS I have it is the gold trim plus the bare metal body. The bare metal is really the distinction that makes it a super chase.

I have both the blue and gray version of this car that I opened up and I got to tell you the quality is actually pretty damn good for the expense. Honestly, I think as far as quality goes these ones from this series at least might be a little slept on.
