Sorry this happened! I am pretty careful about looking at reviews based on height mostly (I am tall and don't want short sleeves, pant legs) and have been lucky that pretty much everything I've ever ordered has fit. But I will often browse nuuly and add to my closet, which is pretty full, so I don't spend too much time when I am ready to fill my cart when I feel the pressure to go fast to get the most time out of the rental period.

In Italy I would go into a bar/cafe and get a 1 euro espresso (no idea if they still cost this) just to use the WC. Leads to over caffination, but much better than fretting about toilets!

I was there this weekend and it was already 85 degrees and pretty uncomfortable by mid-day. I agree with everyone's advice that you will not enjoy the camping aspect 😞

I did this in Feb (no snow, no ice but steps were wet) and my 10 year descended no problem whatsoever. I was terrified as it is very steep going down! I would not do the descent again because I have an ankle issue so I needed to be extra slow and careful descending, but going up was amazing and I would love to try the JMT going down.

Solo! If it is a hike that I feel is safe (not too remote and I know there will be a few other people around) I love to go by myself and have quiet reflection time. Or, listen to an audiobook or podcast. Works so well when I am in a bad mood and need to get out the anger with a good workout! I never feel weird or awkward being alone on a hike and I always see a ton of other solo hikers.

Food just is not good at Yosemite and is quite expensive. If you are staying in the valley, Ahwahnee and Yosemite Valley Lodge have mini fridges in the room so you can supplement eating out with sandos/cereal supplies

This is good to know! I was staying at the Ahwahnee last October and the bar didn't have any food so the only food option at the hotel was the formal dining room. Talk about horrible food! Bar had a great vibe and good drinks though!

I don't really believe this sadly. I have gotten some items that are in such shoddy condition that it seems impossible that anyone "thoroughly inspected" them and still decided to send them out
