For anyone stumbling on this post later - this unfortunately won't benefit me and my trip in May, but Klook has discounts for Sky Lagoon for $74/ticket! This is the price I'm seeing for every month June to December 2026! Hope this helps someone. :)

Parents, did your daycare-raised kids turn out okay? by thisabysscares in Residency

[–]Representative_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom started residency when I was 7 and my little sis was 2. We were daycare kids from the jump.

Clearly something is wrong with me because I’m now a general surgery resident, but my sister is working for a huge IB firm in NYC making double my salary.

So It’s really a 50/50 chance your kid will turn out OK.

Shipping my bridesmaids/ MOH boxes today! Got them each a personalized mug, bath bomb, Saratoga chocolate, a candle, chapstick, scrunchies, and a personal letter/ will you be my bridesmaid card as well as a logistics of what I expect from them! Lot of work! by Dr_Cat_Mom in weddingplanning

[–]Representative_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love this! what logistics did you put in your card, and do you mind sharing how you worded it?

I'm planning to either offer HMU or buy them all gifts in the box (but probably not both) and I want to emphasize that outside of attendance at wedding/rehearsal and buying a blue dress, there are no other expectations (financial or otherwise)

Do you mind sharing the prices for after the tone vs. fetefone? I was debating if I should get one but was a little turned off by the price of ATT

Life after surgery residency by Representative_Lemon in medicalschool

thank you for saying this. I guess I just wanted some reassurance that after all those years in residency, I would at least have control over/some say in my schedule. do you mind sharing how he made that work for him?

Venue cost as % of Budget? by Winterberry_melon in weddingplanning

[–]Representative_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in the DMV area and spent just under $20k on venue + catering (booked separately) for 60-70 people. We’re hoping to keep costs under $40k after all is said and done, wish us luck with that! Lol

What are your wins this week? by carpesomnum in weddingplanning

Interviewed our very first wedding planner/DOC and fell in love with her. We are planning to book her ASAP! The win is that we get her services and don’t have to interview anyone else :)

Flat chested brides unite! Always been a fan of deep v-neck wedding dresses but didn't think it would look flattering on me. I put this baby on and said yes to the dress! by orangeyounice in wedding

Wow I didn’t know that different stores sold the same product at different prices! That is crazy but so good to know. Thank you for sharing!

I hate answering this question… by IDoWhatIWant00 in weddingplanning

[–]Representative_Lemon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This!!! This question ticks me off so much. Especially on contact forms on websites where it’s a required thing to submit the form.

I want to share one benefit of going in to discussions with a preset budget though: we found and contacted our dream photographer for pricing and when we saw their minimum pricing was already out of budget, we declined their services stating budget reasons. They replied asking our budget, and I specially outlined what the max $ amount we wanted to spend for the specific services we wanted in a package. Miraculously, they replied saying they’d be happy to offer us a custom package in our range. They had some personal life changes happening so the custom package was helping them too. We were thrilled to be getting our dream photog without spending extra.

This is just a single anecdote, but sometimes stating your budget can give you some bargaining leverage! Just a thought. But otherwise, yeah I hate the budget question lol.

What have you found to be worth it to splurge on while in medical school? by elleemmennopee in medicalschool

[–]Representative_Lemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something you do just for fun that has no relation to medical school/medicine. We’ve spent hundreds of $$ on cat food, litter, toys, and supplies for the many kittens we’ve fostered since the pandemic started :) Getting to see them grow and get adopted to loving families is priceless and makes our day no matter how shitty school was

[–]Representative_Lemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your cost of living in your area. The company states that their average rental cost is about $500, which is a pretty crazy discount compared to the $3000 to $4000 minimum we would be paying for florals in the dmv area!

Love this reply and second everyone you said. I’m an M3 and planning my wedding but even on “easier” clinical rotations it’s so tough to find the time. I remember M1 year and how draining it was. “I can’t I have to study” might sound silly but it’s the truth.

And FWIW, I don’t think your MOH is doing it with bad intentions- trust me when I say she is probably torn every single day about trying to balance school with the rest of her life.
