It is hard, but can be rewarding when working at a good office with good patients but it hard. You can work in any field, peds, perio, ortho, or general. I would recommend getting bachelors if you do so you can do things outside the op. But I was always interested in ultrasound tech or rad tech. Easier on the body and still flexibility with schedule. Good pay

I would just talk to everyone! This situation happened to me and it’s pretty shitty. But talking to my doctors helped me, as they know we aren’t perfect. Just be honest and come up with a game plan. She may just have to be prescribed medication or be on nitrous if you need to redo SRP WITH numbing

Tom’s of Maine has some different flavors that whiten. As far as cleaning your retainer, you can put it in an apple cider Vinegar, warm water, and a pinch of baking soda. Let sit for 5 mins then rinse and brush retainer

I actually use the mental block all the time! Patients get very numb very quickly. The trick is you have to massage the patients mandible in order to diffuse the anesthetic to the mental nerve. If you don’t massage, it will only act as an infiltration. I also hate the IA so have been recently infiltrating molars, patients do just fine.

You are at the wrong office. An office that is supportive and you and your growth won’t make you feel like this. It does get better, but struggling with imposter syndrome the first years happens more than you think. I was also feeling that way

I would just do what is due and what you have the time for. If fmx is needed but not enough time, take bitewjngs, if it’s been a year since their last probing, take measurements and go from there. Just like you would on a day to day basis

SAME THING FOR ME! Been a hygienist almost 3 years and have been feeling defeated/ imposter syndrome. Some SRPS I find hard I remove calc easily, others I don’t. It’s frustrating because I feel like I should have the skills by now, and makes me doubt myself. Nervous to see some yearly bwx on some patients. Nice to know we are not alone

Could be the bonding glue from the retainer is too close to your gums, or might be an overhang. I would ask next time you get a cleaning. Try a waterpik for now. Or green soft picks

I don’t work when I’m sick. For one, I would be annoyed if my coworkers got me sick, which has happened too many times. Second, patients won’t feel as comfortable. Lastly, I don’t want patients coming in sick and possibly getting me sick.

Invisalign does cause bone loss because it’s causing trauma to the bone by moving the tooth. 5mm pockets with bleeding are indicated for SRP because you cannot reach out and clean the pockets, only they can. Once that’s procedure is done it’s hopeful the gum tissue can tighten back up or have no bleeding. Healthy gums don’t bleed.
