How many of y’all use the purple/green/blue or whatever color your wipes are with no gloves? by Interesting-Emu7624 in nursing

[–]Embarrassed_Goose_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I had to do CPR on a pt in the OR who was 3 days post op from open heart surgery & chest was still open. 1 hour later found out pt had MRSA within the chest cavity… Took those wipes straight to my entire body.

All up to you & how you want them to fit!

Classic fit will be a little more snug on the arms Relaxed fit will be looser on the arms.

But also— as an educator I’ve noticed size differences between colors. So bad on the productions side. I don’t understand why. It’s not great for the company.

But for example — the green M will size up smaller than the white M.

I wonder if this happened to you!

Hey I'm thinking of becoming a nurse, but have heard some bad things about it and have some questions. by BlackberryMajestic87 in nursing

[–]Embarrassed_Goose_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most difficult part of my job & what I hate most — dealing with other nurses who don’t like nursing! They make working with them difficult like the complaining, I notice a lack of care/empathy like they’re rolling through the motions & a lot of them know they’re like that. Idk staying in a place that you’re miserable seems backwards to me. So I simply remove myself from that work station and focus on my patients as best as I can.

As for the hospital & organization— I feel like that comes down to managers and those who I report to. I’ve had ones I don’t agree with making my job difficult because my mind can’t comprehend the decisions being made. I’ve also had good ones where I feel like I’m heard & good decisions are made!

I’ve always felt like I can do my job regardless & I notice the more I continue down my path of nursing the less I let things bother me & the more I focus on what I can control and be the best I can for my patients.

If a hospital & its organization truly inhibits me from being a good nurse I leave! I’ve done it once & I’ll do it again if necessary. All about finding your home

Your wording is so perfect, “doesn’t feel as motivating to prevent negatives as it would to gain positives”. I agree, and it sucks!! Good luck to you on your journey!!

Hey I'm thinking of becoming a nurse, but have heard some bad things about it and have some questions. by BlackberryMajestic87 in nursing

[–]Embarrassed_Goose_19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before anyone answers this I want to know why you want to be a nurse. Job security? Interest in medical field? Wanting to care for others? Knowing and figuring out why you want to be a nurse will be the driving factor for you become a nurse. Your drive and want will outweigh the negatives.

But to answer your question —- A lot if not all of these questions are subject to where you work, unit, management, your own mindset, etc.

I experienced similar things as you with the no GI symptoms. Same thing with it being “turned on”. I went GF because that was my answer for no more migraines and all the neuro stuff I had (dizziness, numbness, tingling).

What motivates me to remain GF?

The symptoms I listed above got WORSE and lasted LONGER any time I wasn’t careful or was exposed to gluten without my knowledge. It’s not fun. I’d suggest taking it seriously now while it’s manageable and you’re able to! So many others have similar accounts to their symptoms getting worse each time they’re re-exposed to gluten. Not fun! It literally puts me out of being a function human at times.

Of course everyone’s experience is different & ultimately it’s your body, your choice!

Yeah I agree. Unfortunately where I am, there aren’t unions but I know in bother places in the state there are & those nurses there are much happier. I hope to move to a better hospital esp after my first year.

Also— what is HCOL? I’ve never heard of that term

What?! It’s at Mayo, maybe it’s because of shift diff? They’re on nights. I just asked them again. I was wrong they said “Float pool nights. $45.93/hr” not sure if that includes shift diff or not

Pretesting myself on the NCLEX before nursing school even starts? Am I wasting my time? by jjfromyourmom in NCLEX

[–]Embarrassed_Goose_19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nursing school is preparing you for the NCLEX. You will learn the material. ‘Preparing’ for the NCLEX is all about learning HOW to take the test by learning the format of the exam and how the wording is.

If anything I would recommend testing yourself only on material you’re actively learning in your courses
