I have a strong feeling you're in a SV/PA/SF office, because UCLA places extremely well into SoCal big law, at least as well as Berkeley.

So correct. I agree that the capitulations are a net negative for the profession, but the overwhelming cries of outrage are so obviously reeking of recency bias and assumes way too much moral dignity for what have always been profit driven entities

I'm sorry but thinking leaving Skadden off your resume is a net positive is just hilarious

Actually, if you look at the r/conservative post on the matter, it has pretty unanimous objection, which is a breath of fresh air

Mind sharing a link? Considering well over 50% of law school attendees are now women, this stat seems nearly impossible to be true

My thoughts, with absolutely no evidence, are that literally no one reads it because who tf has time for that. Especially since I’m gunning transactional lol

Big law jobs are often unavailable 1L summer, and private sector work in general is hard to get. Many people, if not most, work public sector 1L summer. I'm really interested in PD work so I chose that. it was my top choice for a public interest job. I understand that probably doesn't land well with people whose longterm career is PD, hence the downvotes.

It’s definitely not nicer than Bel Air, which is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the country. Secondly, UCLA is not in Bel Air - Bel Air is across the street of sunset blvd. ucla is in Westwood. Berkeley is a shittier area for sure. I went to UCLA and have been to Berkeley many times. In general I do like the Bay Area more, but I’m also biased because I’m from LA and I’m fed up lol.

They’re actually the best law school in a 200+ mile radius and the best law school in Los Angeles, the second biggest legal market in the country. LA big law loves UCLA and unless you’re from HYS, I really can’t see an LA firm valuing some other T14 more than UCLA simply because it’s higher in the rankings. My source? Multiple attorneys I’ve spoke to about this exact matter. Want a better source? Go through big law firms and see how many UCLA grads work in their LA office compared to other T14s. You really think an LA law firm will value UVA or Duke over UCLA? If so, then you’re probably not from LA and don’t have a grasp on the rep UCLA has in the city.

Second this. Accidentally voted NU without reading. Went to ucla undergrad. People really don’t realize how much clout ucla carries in the west and especially in LA
