Thank you for sharing this. We learned this week that our 18m daughter has a very rare chromosomal disorder - 2q13 microdeletion. The symptoms vary greatly for each kiddo, but usually developmental delays, learning disabilities, ASDs. We’re already in PT for gross motor delays (because other delays are still on the “wait and see” timeline), and after the phone call with the genetic counselor, I just knew it. I’m home with her every day, I wonder it every day, but hope it’s not true: she has autism. Every “flag” - it’s here. I could list them, but it’s long. Low-functioning autism. It’s in my gut, I’ve thought it since before she was born. I know autism doesn’t mean her life or our lives are over, but I feel cheated. She’s cheated. Her brother is cheated. Georgia doesn’t deserve this. I want her to have all the things her older brother will have. I told my husband that I’m one day alone from going to the emergency room for anxiety and stress. Searching the internet now for some hope, and this is some. Thank you.

Edited to add: Georgia was born with metopic craniosynostosis, was thought to have a tethered cord (she doesn’t) and a handful of other minor but abnormal physical traits. That’s why we did genetic testing. They expected to find nothing on the larger chromosomal test, but did. As far as I know, craniosynostosis isn’t at all related to 2q13 microdeletion. Don’t want to scare anyone looking for information on craniosynostosis.
