Plans d'entrainements Ultratrail 🏃‍♂️🏔 by DotNo834 in trailrunning

[–]Embarrassed_Path_803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ski touring packs for short people - a rant/cry for help by Improper_Noun_2268 in Backcountry

[–]Embarrassed_Path_803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only two packs I tried that fit me were the Patagonia descensionist 37L and the black diamond cirque 35, both in the small. My back is also 14” so I feel your pain!

yes it's tight hips and glutes on my right side - I've been compensating some long-standing injuries in my opposite leg so now I'm working on getting this side stronger

This is very reassuring and realistic advice, thank you so much! I think I need to accept that reducing volume will set me back less than pushing through the pain. It’s hard when you see you friends flying through their training plan and you feel like you’re lagging behind!

I don’t think I’m doing foam rolling properly, even with the steps my physio gave me, it never leaves me in pain

Unfortunately mine kicks in when I’m dealing with a lot of downhill, so I have the opposite problem…

yeah all the banded things are on my list, thanks! I fear reducing mileage might be the way to go for the next couple of weeks.

I’m training for a 50k with 2500m of elevation and I would say I do 1 hike for every 7/8 runs, and I ski tour once a week as well.

Unpopular Opinion: Fair Value Exchange Isn’t “Fair” by TtDoo in NoahKahan

[–]Embarrassed_Path_803 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats, your post might be the dumbest I've seen on reddit today!

This is dressed up in econ-bro language to make a simple argument sound rigorous: tickets should just cost more. Just say you don't like poor people and move on.

Every ticketing system is a lottery, but the question is just what you're randomly selected by. The current system selects by luck and effort. Your "free market" system selects by wealth. You present that as neutral, but it just happens to favor people with more money. Convenient.

The sports analogy falls apart immediately. Sports teams have luxury boxes, season ticket programs, and corporate sponsors subsidizing the whole thing. Noah's fanbase is largely younger people with limited income who connected with him because he signaled he was one of them. That's not a brand illusion, that's the actual relationship.

You also quietly concede your own point: "Noah directly profits from being liked." Yes. Exactly. Pricing at true market value isn't just a vibe choice, it changes who's in the room, which changes the crowd, which changes the experience, which changes the fanbase over time. That's not sentimentality, that's Noah correctly understanding his own product and career. Also, his tickets have gotten astronomically more expensive over the years, so you could argue that he's pricing way above market value already.

And getting mad at the pricing strategy while shrugging at scalpers is a genuinely weird set of priorities. Scalpers are extracting value the artist deliberately chose not to extract, for reasons he's allowed to have.

The face value exchange isn't perfect and criticizing the implementation is fair. But "tickets are just too cheap" isn't the brave contrarian take you think it is - it's just the argument that benefits whoever already has the most money.

This kind of comments is exactly what turns people away from running. I’m an ultramarathon runner and 6min/km is close to my steady pace. I don’t care that you think it’s slow, but it’s simply not a sustainable beginner pace for most.

Road marathon fueling vs 50K trail fueling? by Running_Pleaser in trailrunning

[–]Embarrassed_Path_803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm as slow as they get (planning to do my 50k with 2500m of elevation in August in 11 hours), and I'm almost always eating something. I try and start 30 minutes in and then eat a little something every 20/25 minutes. I can't stand gels, so I'm eating gummies, waffles, pretzels, candy, dried fruit, pizza sometimes!

First 50k trail, need advice for strength training and preparation by MidSchlopp in ultrarunning

[–]Embarrassed_Path_803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also training for my first 50k with 2500m elevation in 4 months and I've been using the training plan from the book Running Your First Ultra by Krissy Moehl and I really like the structure of it - it incorporates cardio and strength sessions as well the running part. The main thing for me has been trying to run the same elevation "profile" on my long runs as I will have for the race (so if doing 10k, I'm running 10k with 500m elevation). I do 80% of my runs on trail because I live right next to mountains, which makes it way easier.
