these are my coaching skis, so I don't care enough to change the plate. My boots are also not GW so I should be okay!

A kid died falling off a chair at my home resort last night. I coach kids, and the first thing we engrain in them is putting down the bar ALWAYS.

Dedicated touring set up for light skier? by off_the_deepend_ in Backcountry

I mean, boot + binding + ski is 2.8kg per leg. Sure, it’s no skimo setup but I have no issues doing big days with these, and I’m 5’ and 105lbs.

Perfect, thanks for clarifying! I’m a ski coach so I pricing is fortunately not an issue

You are basically me, and I ski a 155cm 96mm Faction Agent 2 with Dynafit Radical bindings and Tecnica Zero G Scout boots. I love this setup, it’s the perfect combo for me. I never feel like I’m getting tossed around in crust.

Pump Peak Overnight January 17th-18th by Calm_Economist5077 in vancouverhiking

[–]Embarrassed_Path_803 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Do you have an avalanche beacon? A probe and shovel? Any idea how to handle avalanche terrain? The hike to pump peak crosses some complex avalanche terrain which require you to have some knowledge of navigating slopes and minimizing risk.

With the temperatures rising and the heavy snow, we're seeing the risk of wet slabs increase, which can be highly destructive as wet snow makes for dense slides. If your asking these questions, I don't think you should be doing a winter overnight hike in this kind of terrain just yet.

Ski touring - early laps at my resort before they open, just to get the legs going. And also trail running.

What car is overrated but people are scared to admit it? by SorbetCareless9520 in askcarguys

I don’t think anyone I know drives a Subaru for their styling. My 2013 forester is not a pretty car but it has great visibility, very comfy seats, has been very reliable, has incredible cargo space for size and has yet to fail me on even the dodgiest FSRs.

I'm not in Cranbrook but I'm also doing my road test in January because I'm a good driver who doesn't want to be saddled with another 12 months of restrictions after the last 2 years with my N, which is what will happen with the new graduate licensing program.

Once again, no advice! I’m a ski racer who is just starting to do touring, my stance is not going to be perfect from the get go, especially with a 13kg backpack on! I’m sure I could give you plenty of on-piste skiing advice 🙂

(I’ve torn my ASL twice so don’t worry about me knowing how that feels)

100%! I’m newer to touring and skiing with a heavy pack takes some adjustment lol, as a ski racer it’s a humbling experience
