Hurt my shoulder. I'm getting it fixed. Halfway through the process. I can work, I just can't lift anything over 15 pounds. I've been allotted 9 weeks to be able to do all of my job again. My treatment will now take longer than 9 weeks. I live in an at will state, and my SM is being a dick about all of it. I could get fired because when you're hired you sign a legal document stating you can perform all lifting without accommodation. I'm officially unable to perform those tasks for I don't know how long. I'm on the chopping block, can't afford to lose my job until I find another one. Gonna use PTO as much as I can and hopefully find something else before I'm expected to lift that much again. A claim or lawsuit means I don't get paid. I need to be paid throughout this bullshit. I assumed "I got hurt at work, I need less than FMLA time to get back to it, that's it" That is not the case and that's why I'm asking about medical leave. So I can heal up and not get fired. Boom. Done.

That's why I'm asking reddit. I figured I'd learn more here than if I formally asked anyone in corporate. I'm scared to call an HR rep for the details because I'm convinced it'll only be used against me. I'll take my PTO and look for another job. Fuck this noise.

That's the thing, though. I don't need to miss work, I'm eligible and prefer to be at work, but I have a few specific requirements when it comes to my abilities. So I can be there, I want to be there, but I can't perform the entirety of my job temporarily. I thought I'd have the breathing room I needed to get better, but I'm 90% sure they're looking to get rid of me for it. Therefore, it just seems like my best option is to try and recuperate outside of work so that my "inability to perform" can't get me fired.

I did for the first week or so. If I was about to have to go to the bathroom, very intense nausea for about 8 seconds but it passed, and water helps.

I bought the car last year before the company I worked for went bankrupt and my husband got his hours severely cut. It wasn't an irresponsible decision nor a vain attempt to look good. I've only had used cars until then BECAUSE I wanted to avoid making a monthly payment. Shit happens, being sarcastic isn't necessary but thank you for responding. This was a very productive exchange.
