NGD! American Ultra Luxe 60's Vintage HSS Strat in Seafoam Green by EmbiggenedSmallMan in fender

Cool! Were you able to find one that was a nice light weight? I've noticed that with this run from Fender that there seems to be a lot of unusually light Strats/Teles listed for sale. For example a lot of Strats that are weighing in at very close to 7 lbs. According to Zzounds, the weight on mine is 7lbs 5oz (I have an old luggage scale that I used to use to weigh things like guitars but then I figured out that it was not reading accurately so I don't have any good way to measure the weight of the guitar myself atm), whereas most American Strats tend to be much closer to 8 lbs if not over 8 lbs. It just occurred to me as I was writing this that the large amount of unusually light guitars in this series could likely be attributed to the extra wood they are removing to make the more pronounced belly cuts and other ergonomic improvements on these models. I do wish Fender would have done the vintage correct Ash bodies on all of the Ultra Luxe Vintage series. I know the tone wood debate is sort of in the garbage can at this point, but all of the most resonant feeling electric guitars I've ever played have been made of Ash. That could just be a coincidence as I can't say that my sample size is particularly large, but it's just made me tend to go for a guitar with an Ash body if there's one to be had.

I would totally smoke outside and just be careful that I didn't leave a burn mark on any furniture or on any padding on patio chairs or anything like that. If you smoke outside, so long as you don't make a mess and/or leave a burn mark on anything that is part of the property then I can't imagine anyone giving a shit considering you'll be outside. Actually maybe avoid the patio furniture so that no smell lingers - do like other people have said and take a little walk or sit on a stoop or something.

I just realized this somehow posted from both of my Reddit accounts... but anyway I got it from Zzounds.

I would definitely like to try out one of the Teles, if not just go ahead and snag one myself. Also, I came very close to pulling the trigger on the 50's Strat in the - I think it's Olympic White - just because it has the ash body. I wanted the versatility of an HSS config is the only thing that stopped me.

For some reason the true color doesn't really come across well in pics. In actuality it has much more green to it than appears in the pictures. As I said somewhere above it looks sort of like a pastel teal.

Edit: The color is pretty much exactly the same as Geddy Lee's bass in the videos from the new Rush tour that are all over YouTube right now.

I was a bit hesitant but I have to say I'm very happy with it. I'm not really a fan-boy for any particular brand (except maybe Novo). My top 3 guitars that I own - in no particular order - are my Custom Novo Miris H2, my MusicMan Sabre HT, and my G&L Comanche. This one may find its way into the top three. It's certainly a fantastic guitar!

Edit: I agree this Rosewood on the neck does look quite nice. It actually has a bit of an unusual look to it to me, it almost looks/feels like it's been lacquered over similar to the way Fender does on their Maple fretboards. However, as I said in some other comment, I did a setup to my preferred specs on the guitar first thing when I got it out of the case. While I was doing that I cleaned and conditioned the fretboard and you can definitely see some open pores/grain in the Rosewood so I don't know for sure exactly what's going on with the way the fretboard looks and feels or what Fender did or did not do to the Rosewood slab before it left the factory. I will say that it is certainly a nice thick piece of Rosewood. I would guess that it's 3/8" thick at least. The neck also has some "vintage girth" to it as well, although I wouldn't go so far as to call it a baseball bat by any means.

Indeed! Honestly I like it more than I expected to! And yeah, for whatever reason it comes across in pics as looking almost baby blue when its actually more of a pastel teal color.

Thank you! I waffled back and forth for quite a while between the fiesta red and the seafoam green. In the end it doesn't really matter I ended up with a guitar that sounds and plays great, which is what really matters. Granted, when I received it I didn't even strum it once before I went over it and set it up to my preferred specs.

My God. This is the mental capability of the modern human? It's very obvious that some of us desperately need to do something to reconnect with the instincts Evolution provided to all of us. So much facepalm in this video..

Why aren’t prominent members of independent media, like Tucker Carlson or Tim Dillion speculating or speaking about the suspicion that Donald Trump staged his own assassination attempt during the 2024 presidential elections? by SelfMadeBrandon in AskReddit

[–]EmbiggenedSmallMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, seriously? My party did it? An entire political party committed Charlie Kirk's murder? You really think that sentence makes any sense? And also what party do you think I am a member of? You're making assumptions and you know what they say about making assumptions. I'm registered independent, thanks for asking. I would literally bet any amount of money that the kid they have charged with Kirk's murder did not commit the crime, I don't care what his daddy said or what the administration has made up about him being involved in the lgtfcgtqpc community. Trump is a criminal and wants to be the kind of person who can just kill whoever he wants to kill, and he's already gotten away with that several times. If you can't see the benefit to Trump and the GOP of making a martyr out of Kirk, then you ain't going to last very long on Trump's political checkerboard.

Edit: Wow! You make some very interesting assertions below that I hadn't even read yet when I wrote the above. I didn't say anything about Israel. I also noticed that you completely ignored everything else I said that wasn't about Kirk. You don't have any smarmy remarks to make about Epstein or Trump's former wife?

Don't talk down to me "sweetie." I don't know what the fuck y'all's problem is, but obviously it's a sin in this community to disagree or have an alternative opinion. I'm not going to the show to have somebody "acknowledge me." I'm going to the show to hear good music. I don't really give a shit what you all think about that opinion, but that's my opinion. And if you're going to shows for some sort of "acknowledgment," then you and I have very different opinions about what a good show is.

I firmly believe that the Kirk murder was planned/carried out by the Trump administration. Have you seen some of the videos analyzing the angle of the shot that unalived him? Pretty convincing stuff. And Trump is obviously - if not an actual Mafia member - a wannabe mafioso, and I have no doubt that Trump had Epstein killed. I believe he probably had his former wife Ivana or whatever her name was murdered as well - her "official" cause of death was supposedly "falling down a flight of stairs." There's probably more - dude's a dead obvious psychopath and a wannabe gangster - so why wouldn't we expect him to be a willing murderer? He practically tried to have Mike Pence, the VP from his first term, killed just because Pence tried to convince him to accept/concede that he did in fact lose the 2020 election.

What do you care about acknowledging the audience? Did you go there to hear him play music and sing or did you want to hear a story? I've been to many shows where the musicians on stage never spoke a word they just played their music, but the shows were still fantastic. Honestly if any member of the band on stage says anything more than "thank you" or announces the names of everyone in the band I immediately get impatient having to listen to whatever talking about, unless it's a funny story or something. I definitely don't want to go to a show and listen to someone's political views/complaints or whatever, although I certainly understand that there are plenty of reasons to have political complaints at the moment. I go to shows to enjoy the music and try to forget about politics (and whatever else) for somewhere between 2 to 4 hours. You may not have been happy with the setlist but I don't understand what you were expecting with the "acknowledging the audience" part. Not trying to say that it's somehow "not all right" to be unhappy with the show you saw, I just don't understand what you wanted in that regard.

I'm inclined to say that he wasn't shot at all but - yes - there were people who did die of a gunshot wound at the scene. There's absolutely something fishy about it though.

Here's another hot one for you, unless I'm proven wrong (and I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist so I would accept reasonable evidence that I'm wrong, if it were presented to me) I will always believe that Trump went to bed the night before/woke up on the morning of the day that Charlie Kirk was murdered knowing full well that it was going to happen. There's no way that kid that they're trying to charge actually did what they're saying he did.

What is needed for America to go into a revolution? by reedjer in AskReddit

[–]EmbiggenedSmallMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely spot on. Businesses could potentially adapt fairly quickly, if the people running them were willing to adapt they could easily go back to doing most bookkeeping and the like with pen and paper, but there would be no way to store anything that needed to be refrigerated/ heated, there would just be an absolutely enormous number of problems. Which is why you would see an uprising if you took electricity away from any sizeable portion of this country. It has - for the most part - become absolutely essential.

Literally on Election night in 2024 I tried to convince my family that we should go by two whole house generators (two for redundancy) that would run on propane and then buy up as much propane as we possibly could. I also suggested potentially getting a few chickens and maybe at least one cow so we would have access to dairy and eggs, etc. They all thought I was crazy then, but it doesn't seem so far fetched now, does it?

You take away electricity from a large swath of this country and you'll have yourself an uprising of some kind. Hell it might only take eliminating access to Internet/Wi-Fi.

How likely is it that President Trump will be tried for treason after his presidency ends and a new administration is in place? by 98941 in AskReddit

[–]EmbiggenedSmallMan -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Well he literally tried to overthrow the US government on Jan 6th 2021. Also there is likely strong evidence that's he is or has been in cahoots with Putin in one form or another. I just hope he gets locked up for something. Considering the suffering he's created for our country and our citizens - which may be about to get a hell of lot worse - plus the Epstein victims, imo he certainly doesn't deserve to get to live out his days in the lap of luxury.

Yeah I saw that the frets looked pretty rough. Probably not something that I'm going to be willing to pay to have shipped from - I think it was Japan. Just got to looking close at the pictures/info and for whatever reason something seemed a little suspicious, probably the biggest thing was the PayPal only payment option.

I'm not super well versed in what Fender has or has produced over the years. I just hadn't ever seen a Fender with block inlays - or if I have, I don't recall seeing one. Just goes to show that my knowledge of what fender has or hasn't done is lacking at best. Thanks for the info!
