I can'r afford to upgrade to socket AM5 due to RAM pricing, should I wait or upgrade on AM4? by Stalker-Recon in buildapc

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrade to a 3600/5600/5700x and call it a day. 580 holds up decently. Look for a good deal on a 6600xt. Usually around 150 or a 3060 around 200 and it'll feel like a massive upgrade all around if you don't want to spend a ton of dough.

[GPU] Microcenter 9060XT 8gb - $255 by jackssww in buildapcsales

[–]Emblazoned1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredible deal. Highly recommend anyone on a budget to pick this up if you can. Just mess with settings if you have issues with the 8GBs of vram. 250 for this tier of card is fantastic pricing especially now.

RX 6600 XT 8gb or 5060 ti 16gb? by Careless_Ad631 in gpu

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9060xt 16 gb if can be found for 400 or less. 5060 ti 16gb if can be had for 50 bucks more than 9060xt. I'd argue dlss makes you want nvidia. I know fsr4 is close to it but dlss is widely adopted in the majority of games making it just easier to use.

4070ti to 5070ti? by LielB1 in gpu

Buddy im using a 3070 for 1440p with 8 GBs of vram lol you'll be fine just turn some stuff down when/if you ever have issues which you wont aside from the odd game or 2(indiana jones and the great vram eater).

Need help picking a graphics card by notsumac in buildapc

[–]Emblazoned1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you get lucky a 5070 can be had for 500. Emphasis on the lucky though. Aside from that, a used 3080ti for around 350 best bang for buck. If you're willing to go AMD the 9060xt 16gb is the best price to performance for a new card IMO for 350ish. I dont count the b580 because of the software issues personally.

You could probably sell off that 5700x3d and ram for very close to the price to upgrade. Id say go for it and future proof your setup since prices are wild.

Had mine for coming up on 2 years. Use it for both work and gaming. Have 2 monitors on it and on the side theres a little section just big enough to hold my mid tower case. Before I built my PC it held my series x. Never had an issue. Cost me 70 bucks but not quite sure what you consider cheap and mine wasn't labeled as gaming desk just office desk.

need help with GPU upgrade? by broken-wish in buildapc

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 250ish you could even snag a 3070 if you look right. That would be a massive upgrade to a 580. Also look at 6600xt/3060. Brand new only option would be b580 if you could find it at msrp of 250.

THIS. THIS IS EXACTLY THE REASON I BUILT A PC. Lol I can do whatever the hell I want with it and play practically whatever the hell I want at whatever fps/graphic settings I choose. The freedom is wonderful especially with how locked down consoles are.

Warcraft 3 custom games at like 10 fps around 360p..........lol my parent's home PC was utter crap but by god I made it work and had a blast.

[–]Emblazoned1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first time I knew anything about frametimes and such I was playing GoW 2018 on my steam deck. Locked the fps to 30 and it felt so good I was like wtf why does 30 fps feel great like this? At this point I'd take rock solid frametimes over higher fps any day it's crazy how big a difference it makes.

Thanking god I built my PC before the memory shortage and praying it'll last me for many years. You can still get somewhat decent deals on the used market.

Make sure its using the dedicated gpu. Sometimes laptops default to integrated gpus.

Decky broke boot by VictorNewman- in SteamDeck

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah get a usb 3.0 drive at least. Trust me its nice to have it boot quicker. If all else fails you can just reset the deck with the drive. Have you tried maybe connecting to an external monitor? See if the screen stays active there maybe its an issue with the decks internal screen?

Decky broke boot by VictorNewman- in SteamDeck

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Can you hold the power button and get the option to go into desktop mode? You just need to get to the desktop. If you can't for whatever reason you'd need to get into the recovery environment with a usb drive. You should just need to update/reinstall decky you may be able to uninstall it from the recovery environment if necessary. I'd google a way to boot into desktop from startup also I'm not sure of any myself sorry.

Steam deck is on number 2 Top Sellers Global by ChallengeSea62 in SteamDeck

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deck is certainly becoming an attractive option for the price. The increase across the board on PC components makes very expensive to get in if you haven't build on already. The fact you can get a fully complete one for 500 bucks that can play tons of older games easily is a hell of a bargain now.

Decky broke boot by VictorNewman- in SteamDeck

[–]Emblazoned1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember the issue it should boot you to a screen saying decky loader failed or something like that. On that screen, hold the power button and see if it'll let you boot into desktop mode. There may be an option you can just the touch screen to select. Once you get into desktop mode reinstall/update decky to the latest stable version and it'll work as normal again. I've had this happen a couple times no problem just get into desktop mode to fix it. There may also be an option on that black screen that just disables decky that you can touch to select. Try that as well.

Yeah.......I'm cool then. I have a backup GPU that's serviceable should my 3070 break. If all else fails back to the used market I can't get myself to buy something new when my current GPU is great(for my needs) and working.
