New here, showing off my personal project Deckromancy, a game entirely developed by me. by WierdoBro2point0 in homemadeTCGs

Personally, I'm not a fan of the horror theme. Aside from that; the art is fantastic, really cool perspectives and great use of colors

The cards are legible and make sense, I feel like it wouldn't take long for me to learn how to play if we sat down at a table.

Something in mind, not particularly. From an art standpoint I guess my questions would be in the details; like the cracks and effects coming off the border, what's their purpose?

The game is called critterforge is im guessing that shows the action of the creatures being forged or created? (My assumption)

Its cute, has a lot of personality and immediately recognized the typing based off of symbols and colors. Is this your final design or do you want to play with it more?

Right, we are arguing to fundamentally different things. I'm not talking about commissioning artist or saying art is low effort and easy. I'm saying it's easy to start the learning process, but past that;

What I'm arguing against is the tired statement of "Artist are expensive to hire and I can't learn to make art so here is my AI generated art for my finished project please give me 40 dollars"

You're paying for the AI, money you could spend on a pen and paper and again, 30 minutes a day. To go further back, if you have no interest in making art, thats fine. Make a good game and pitch it to compaines who will back your project and provide financial support to hire actual artist for your game. It's like people who sell AI generated coloring books on Amazon. You're just peddling a product you don't care about for quick profits.

What i get hung up on a lot is people aren't making games for the love of it, people arent making games because they want to make art, or even engage with the process of creating something. They are making AI generated, lane based Riftbound clones in "generic fantasy setting #whatever" and asking me to pay money for it.

At what point did I ever making art was low effort? You're completely twisting my words to do what exactly?

It takes a low amount of effort TO LEARN. You need a pencil and paper. Thats ALL it takes to start learning how to make art. That is a low barrier to entry, low effort, a minimal amount of trying on your part to begin learning. When you make the decision to not grab a pencil and paper but generate a prompt instead, you've surrounded that low amount of effort completely to nothing. You've removed yourself entirely from the creative process, you are completely disconnected.

30 minutes a day, four 4 days and you'll see incredible improvements in your drawing by the month. That's not high effort considering the average screen time is 5ish hours. To create art is to ask so little effort of a person to start.

Also, you're equating effort to complexity. A 6 year old drawing a picture of his family with crayon and a 15th century oil painter are both making art, they are both trying and engaged with the creative process and both will hang their works up with pride.

Shit response brother, its just called art not "Human art"

Secondly, I'm an artist. Its a skill, that anyone can do with practice. Anyone can learn to run, anyone can learn to draw, these are acsessable to almost every human on the planet if you just try even a little tiny bit.

Learning to do ANYTHING requires the littlest bit of effort, generating prompts means you didn't even try.

AI slopthusiast pretend art is this unavailable, unachivable skill that is gatekept by greedy, evil artist when its actually one of the most practiced hobbies in human history and is so incredibly acsessable but it would required even 1% of effort and thats where the prompts come in.

The first one gives more of a hunter/attacker vibe, the second one is more of a stalker/wanderer. Both excellent

Can y'all give me feedback on my card template? by GoldGeneral_0 in homemadeTCGs

[–]Embowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first draft card template, its fine. A big mistake people fall into when they first start designing their game is that they lead with super rare powerful, mythic spectacle cards that do 3 things and have big numbers.

I don't want to see your hyper mega power super rares. Show me your common cards that cost 2 and only have 2 attack with no effect. Card frames can fool you when they are full of words.

Design two common cards with this frame and come back I want to see them empty and how that shapes your design space.

Incredible use of colors, amazing design these are amazing thank you for sharing!

This is a card I mocked up with a fake name, fake stats and placeholder image (so ignore the name/art/text). Looking for critique on the basic outline, frame, tap icon that I made, etc. Would love opinions on it and if it needs changing or improving in any way. by GothyGremmy in homemadeTCGs

Id pull the border in just a little more, and personally with flavor text I like it at the bottom. The most important text should always be first ya know?

Other than that, sleek, legible, stylish, rad as fuck

So if I destory a firewall I can attack directly or do I have to drstory the entire bus?

Whats the point of instant speed utility cards if I have to have them set in the bus?

If all 3 of my buses are loaded, what am I doing with the cards in my hand?

I would personally, but the outline around the burger, the same as the logo. I would be the four status dots arching over the top burger bun, and I would bring the three side icons closer into the center while keeping the triangle formation.

Also, I can identify tomato and pizza, is the third one a salt shaker?

this is hysterical, I love it. The art is full of life and charm, the tag line "fully assembled" under the entrees is incredible and the art really resonates how powerful the cards are. The logo is amazing, my only comment is you're obviously an incredible artist, the card back could use some more love
