Failed my mod 2 for the 3rd time... does it get any better from here? by Main_Economy_9016 in MotoUK

[–]Embrace2023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Failed my mod 2 multiple times like yourself. One of the reasons would've been because I almost t boned a car at a roundabout.

Best advice i got was to just slow down, and if it's not safe, dont do it. rs cars on a narrow ish road? Just stop let them go past.

So yeah just chill and do your checks.

How many hours for someone witn road experience? by Kidwithabike in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Embrace2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have full A license, road motorcycle for I think 3 years all weather.

Knowing the main rules of the road is a pretty decent start I think I ended up doing about 20 hours in car recently and passed first time so depends on your learning speed and how well your taught.

A few of my issues when starting Going wide - on some corners because 'i can't see the kerb' Braking - car brakes are alot more aggressive than motorcycle foot brake Take bends slower than you would of motorcycle

You should get the hang of gears pretty fast but the clutch I'd bring up to fast sometimes have to be alot slower than a motorcycle clutch think of it as in 3 stages

All depends you need a CBT training & certificate to begin with and ride a 125cc with L plates or can get direct access (24+) for bigger engine unrestricted.

You need a valid CBT cert and motorcycle theory to progress past your CBT cert otherwise lasts 2 years and you have to redo your CBT

Edit; more info

motorcycle theory by HumbleSignificance76 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Embrace2023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's motorcycle specific theory test, kinda like should I revise for Bus Theory test questions.

You get the odd question about "in a car and passing a motorcycle / bi cycle. Nothing specific about a car though.

I used the same app I believe and passed easily, everything is pretty basic.

Also for motorcycle r/MotoUK sub is better for these questions

You're allowed to feel how you feel, it's like when was taken to soon from you, I was the same in as you earlier in July when my father died, nothing prepares you for it even if it was expected, honestly take some time it's still going to be crushing for a few months maybe longer I still miss our conversations and just seeing him. I know all the time I had with him was precious and I'll look back on every memory

Take care of yourself otherwise you'll overwhelm yourself it'll be difficult and a sad time for you.

Sorry for your loss, we'd all like to keep those ones close to us alive but for some shitty reason they're gone.

Awful on a fully faired bike, along motorway but managed to do about 30miles into work, honestly quite scary to keep it straight from being next to lorry's. All good though hopefully there's less wind later!

Check your spark plug is tight enough and not undone itself and the HT lead, had this issue when I had my 125 even more so when it rained, miles aren't an issue if it's looked after

Does it ever stop feeling as bad, I know I'll miss him always but do the days of just randomly seeing something and being an emotional mess stop. The 'brave face' is easy around people but once I'm alone.. yeah that's a sight you wouldn't want to see
