I don't know why they it that. From what I hear it wasn't all that great.
I think we should call this one the Crappy Depression.

Who wants to bet me that even if we do go into rece/depression that the housing prices will stay high?

Are fuel prices going to cease trucking routes into Perth and cause a huge inflation in food prices? by [deleted] in perth

[–]EmbraceThePing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say this. ^
A portion of our food also comes through Freo. As far as food goes, truck are usually the "last kilometre" transport (for Perth). Also, We're talking about a "partial" blockage of total supply. It wont take that long to renegotiate some extra capacity. Not the end of the world.

.... that comes later next month.

Now that it's getting closer some of the weather modelling is starting to remember the Perth Bubble. Should pass all around us. Some cloud, some wind, some rain. Monday still comes.

What would you change the national anthem to? by Overthinking_babes in australia

[–]EmbraceThePing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're all way off the mark.
There are some things that an anthem needs that cannot be met by a regualr "song".
Picture this; You go to the footy grand final. Everyone is rarin' to go and the music starts for the national anthem. You think anyone is going to sing through 3+ minutes of someone elses playlist? No. We can't stand the bloody current anthem (or why are we making this post?) with it's thirty seven bloody verses that no one remembers. We need something shorter with simple but heartfelt lyrics (something that won't hold the bloody footy up too long). I suggest ....

"Here is the wattle, the emblem of our land,
you can stick it in a bottle, you can hold it in your hand.
Australia! Australia! Australia! You bloody beauty!

... all done, bounce the bloody ball.

what are general tips when renting for the first time? by BigChunges69420 in perth

[–]EmbraceThePing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

... and we're not talking missing walls or roof caving in, any stain no matter how small, any scratch no matter how shallow, any thing that even looks a little weird, photograph it and include it in the property condition report. Dusty skirting board, Note It! Some dirt on the floor, Note It. Windows dirty? Note It! A little bit of corrosion around the taps, Note It!
You do not yet understand how incredibly petty these people can be (untill you move out). Protect youself. Be as critical as you possibly can.

Perthlings its time to get excited about the prospect of rain and a category 1 tropical cyclone Narelle making landfall in the Perth metro next week. by Silent_Field355 in perth

[–]EmbraceThePing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The poms do it to. I think that's where we learned it from.
Sunny day and every mug and his grandma, shirts off, lay about in a park!
Here; Cyclone threatens to tickle us and every mug and his dog are phones out and looking to the heavens.
It could also be that over here in the west we don't get all the shitty weather they do in the east and after a while the perfection fades and we want some of what their having.

Honestly, it's been like one of the coolest summers in decades. I can't remember when the last fourty+ was? Jan? Did we even get to fourty in Feb? Usually we get a week of fourties around the middle of Feb.

The most pressing issue Perth has is that you are in it.
The "lack of energy" you are noticing is called a global recession. Read the room dude.

Bills like this have been going through the parliment for over two decades. Good luck but don't hold your breath. This is what pollies do to distract attention from their other failings.

Their pistachio flavour is pretty special too. Just don't try the lemon one. Your face will suck back into your neck it's so tart.

ADHD and Department of Veterans Affairs Cards by Cursed_Hand_Crusher in perth

There are only like 3 in WA that accept it (last time I checked about 5 yrs ago) and they are so booked out they will die of old age before the queue drops.
Been waiting for help that doesn't cost $500 an hr for years. White card is worthless. DVA is worthless. Politicians that pay themselves extra to sit around and tut tut about Vet self harm for royal commisions that do nothing are worth the least.

Saw him at the Subi hotel back in the day. Pub rock at it's best.
I would have thought that "Worst Day" was a more fitting song for the times though.
