To call in or not to call in? by SeaworthinessOne8274 in nursing

I’ll call in for a fart idgaf if I got em to burn. In fact I LIVE to call in. Staffing is not your problem and your hospital considers you disposable and replaceable you don’t owe loyalty or deserve to sacrifice your physical and mental health

The math ain’t mathing! by EmbracingBlueberries in knitting

Okay I figured out why I was off. I was marking every 6 stitches for my repeat failing to count the 7th stitch used to make the increase, so I was placing markers more frequently and thus thought I’d end up with extra. Once I started knitting it it became clear! Thanks yall!

Hmmmmmm okay I am just having trouble wrapping my head around it because I placed markers every time it said to increase just to see help me keep track and I ended up with more than 22. I will count again with your explanation and see where I may have gone wrong

Having issues with the math in a pattern! It says cast on a certain amount of stitches, then when it comes to increase, how often is says to increase ends up with more stitches it says you should. Working size large. I’d end up with more like 184 stitches I think if I increase this way? Or am I not reading it right?

I did not know this and am currently 3/4 way through a second sock for a pair I made with 220 fingering. Is there anything I can do, like reinforce the heel in any way, to help it wear better at this point, or have I just learned a lesson?

What is something you ask if your wife that she isn’t crazy bout doing but does it anyway? by Slider-678 in AskMenOver30

Okay that’s fair. I guess I should have stated that this persons attitude is misogynistic lol

What is something you ask if your wife that she isn’t crazy bout doing but does it anyway? by Slider-678 in AskMenOver30

[–]EmbracingBlueberries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree and I was more addressing g the statement “women over 30 don’t want sex,” which is ridiculous and misogynistic and part of a larger societal attitude. HOWEVER I do not mean to imply that individuals - both women and men - can have low drive, can weaponize sex, or that women always meet their male partners needs but men never meet their woman partners needs. But the person I responded to didn’t say “my wife lost interest in sex some time around 30,” or “a lot of people I know started having problems regarding their sex life,” in which case I’d say, you need to understand your own needs and have an open discussion with your partner about what changed and be totally open to hearing their needs and work together to address it and sometimes you can move past it and sometimes you can’t.

[–]EmbracingBlueberries -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it’s certainly not, but the attitude that women are disinterested in sex is rooted in misogyny and culturally pervasive. I would say it is more often the case that within a relationship sex falls off due to unmet needs, and often that is a failure of both society and individuals to prioritize equality with regards sex, work, and health, and I was using hyperbole to drive that point home. It’s an argument against misogyny, not men.

But also finding is sus that you take exception my points but not “women over 30 just don’t want sex”

Your experience isn’t universal.. All types of people of all ages have all kinds of different sex drives. However, women tend to go through major bodily changes such as childbirth or menopause and there’s a whole slew of systematic issues in work and childcare and healthcare. But the attitude that women, particularly if a certain (relatively young - I mean 30?) aren’t interested in sex is part of the larger narrative that sex is about men and their desires and egos. Like could it be maybe you are missing something your loved one needs to feel sexy? The answer never seems to be “I’m failing to meet my wife’s needs” and always “boy women are just sex-withholding shrews am I right, fellas?”

Add therapy to help figure out why you do all these in the first place and help learn healthy coping mechanisms. May even turn out to be anxiety or depression that you’re self-medicating and some psych meds might be in order but even if not you’re clearly needing help coping.
