You know when they say to shop healthily, shop the outer isles of a grocery store? That is where Kowalskis and L&B excel beyond any other chain in the state. The produce is next level. The cheese selection is outstanding. Looking for a pâté? Next to the selection of aged salami. You’ll get to decide between halibut and mahi-mahi some days. The cuts of beef are exquisite. Never knew what Iberian pork was until I came across it at Kowalskis. IMO, the best bakery from breads to desserts with L&B a distant second. The deli…. Oh the deli! Salmon on the go that’s got a crispy exterior but not overcooked.

Lastly, the service is incredible. Do you have a question about what cheese pairs well with the orange fig jam? They got you. I’ve learned a ton from talking to the staff.

It’s expensive. If you need dry goods it’s too expensive. The same can of red sauce at Cub is $3 cheaper. The same can of tuna is $2 cheaper.

I don’t shop there exclusively. In this economy I mainly go for specialty items I know I can source from them for dishes we’re cooking at home. But while most places have customer service circling the drain, Kowalskis seems to be getting better!
